Youth Baseball & Softball Summer Program Philosophy The Community Education-Recreation Summer Youth Baseball and Softball programs are intended to provide wholesome recreational alternatives for the youth in the community. All youth who are registered for an activity should have an equal opportunity to participate in practices, games, and other scheduled events, providing they attend the activity regularly, listen to the coaches and behave properly. Many practice sessions and games are held right here in Montevideo. Some games have been scheduled with area communities for the older age groups-starting at the 3rd grade level. These games are designed to give all youth a chance to meet and play against youth from other communities. The intent is not to WIN at all costs in these games. Parent volunteers are welcome and invited to assist the hired staff with any of our youth programs, as long as they display the same basic philosophy the Community Education-Recreation department expects of the hired staff. We expect players and coaches to: Demonstrate good sportsmanship towards other players, parents, and coaches. Attend practices and games regularly or let the coach know. Maintain a drug free-tobacco free environment at all games and practices. Be enthusiastic and listen and learn from the coaches. Have FUN and do the best you can!!
