At this workshop, you will get help to complete your naturalization application (N-400) and a fee waiver (I-912) or reduced fee (I-942) form, if applicable. Your case will be filed by a Department of Justice accredited representative who will file as your legal representative with USCIS (G-28) and provide you advice throughout the entire process. You will also receive help to prepare for the citizenship test, including interview prep and study materials. Pre-registration is required. Your Lawful Permanent Resident Card (“Green Card”)
Your Social Security Card
List of all the trips taken outside the United States (with corresponding dates)
List of all addresses where you have lived for the past 5 years (with corresponding dates—no gaps)
List of all addresses, names of companies or schools where you have worked or studied for the past 5 years (with corresponding dates—no gaps)
Names, dates of birth, addresses, and A# (Alien Numbers) for all your children, including missing, deceased, adopted and step children
Name, date of birth, date of marriage, and address of your current spouse
Names, dates of birth, dates of marriage, & dates of divorce of yours and your spouse’s prior marriages
If you have ever been arrested or detained, bring certificates of disposition from the courts
If you’ve ever been cited or charged, including traffic violations, bring information about that
USCIS filing fee: $725 in check, money order, or cashiers check to “U.S. Department of Homeland Security.” Credit card is also accepted. If you want to apply for a Fee Waiver, bring a Verification of Benefits letter to show that you receive public assistance (Medi-Cal, food stamps/CalFresh, SSI), or your most recent federal tax returns and last 3 months pay statements for all
Eligibility Requirements You may be eligible to become a U.S. citizen if you: 1. Are 18 years or older 2. Have resided in the state for at least 3 months 3. Have been a legal permanent resident for 5 years, or 3 years if you are married to a U.S. citizen
4. Are able to read, write, and speak basic English (or qualify for an exemption) 5. Can demonstrate knowledge of U.S. history and government (civics) 6. Have continuously resided in the U.S. for the past 5 years 7. Have been physically present in the U.S. for at least 30 months in the last 5 years 8. Demonstrate good moral character 9. Are willing to take the Oath of Allegiance
