Analyze how management operates by compliance with government regulatory requirements, accreditation guidelines, and quality improvement initiatives

Apply basic health information management/ health informatics management skills based on the specific site of the PPE
•
Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical behaviors
•
Review the organization’s strategic plan or organizational scorecard and identify future initiatives, challenges, and trends
•
Meet with organizational leaders to discuss their roles and responsibilities and identify how they interface/interact with your PPE preceptor or department
•
Review leadership functions with the PPE Preceptor such as those related to quality management and reporting, supervision within the department, human resources and personnel, compliance and regulatory issues, revenue and budgeting, contracts and negotiating vendor contracts, or any large-scale organizational projects currently being managed
•
Participate in any manager training sessions or administrative meetings
•
Exposure to use of the various information systems used at the facility, assessing how they interface and facilitate sharing of health information
•
Discuss how the organization is currently working to improve quality and outcomes (this could be related to internal processes, patient care, or with business associates or others
•
Learn about how the use of information systems facilitates reporting to external stakeholders, such as federal/state reporting requirements, or accrediting bodies
