After five months of work, the Moffat County School District Strategic Plan has been developed! This plan will provide a road map for us for the next five years. Students, parents, community members and district employees engaged in a rigorous process to identify the district’s mission statement, belief statements, and focus areas. The MCSD Board of Education and superintendent will use this plan to establish action steps to guide staff and the community towards achieving our goals. These actions steps will build the annual Balanced Scorecard which keep our sights set on educating and inspiring our students to thrive in an environment of change.
FOCUS AREA I - GOVERNANCE Working together, the BOE and superintendent will provide leadership that demonstrates the agreed upon Mission Statement and Belief Statements are the foundation of our efforts to improve outcomes for all students. Goal 1: The BOE will improve skills and leadership capacity through BOE related training. Goal 2: The BOE will demonstrate commitment to a sustainable mission statement.
FOCUS AREA II - STUDENT SUCCESS All students can excel in post-secondary studies and/or career opportunities. Goal 1: MCSD will connect every student, PreK-12, to relevant coursework, measurable outcomes and authentic experiences reflecting the skills, talents and capacities leading to a successful future. Goal 2: MCSD will expand community partnerships to establish learning opportunities and experiences to facilitate and extend core academics and career education curriculum. Participation and evaluation of student involvement should be monitored for post-secondary and/or career readiness. Goal 3: MCSD will establish a cooperative framework with personnel to cultivate and continually improve their practice, to create the optimal learning environment for student success.

FOCUS AREA III - CULTURE AND CLIMATE We will cultivate a positive culture and climate in MCSD by building trust and genuine relationships. Goal 1: MCSD will establish and communicate clear and consistent norms and expectations for administrators, staff and students. Goal 2: MCSD will use a variety of methods to communicate regularly and effectively with staff, parents and students. Goal 3: MCSD will encourage staff, parent and student involvement in and responsibility for building inclusive and engaging schools. Goal 4: MCSD will seek and retain staff members who are committed to inclusive, relevant and engaging education.
FOCUS AREA IV- FISCAL MANAGEMENT We will ensure the fiscal health of Moffat County Schools. Goal 1: MCSD will create partnerships with other local organizations and entities. Goal 2: Capital & Capital Outlay: • Student needs will be met through efficient facility maintenance and management. • Capital outlay needs will be met on an ongoing annual basis. Goal 3: MCSD students will have access to current resources for learning. Goal 4: MCSD will recruit and retain outstanding, highly qualified staff.

FOCUS AREA V- ENGAGING THE COMMUNITY We will identify and engage our community stakeholders so we can rebuild trust, increase involvement, improve communications, and demonstrate transparency. Goal 1: MCSD will increase parental involvement. Goal 2: Increase public visibility, involvement and cohesiveness of MCSD staff. Goal 3: MCSD will clearly communicate to, educate about, and involve the community in the MCSD budget process. Goal 4: MCSD will Increase inter-agency collaboration and partnerships.
