Memo TO: City Council FROM: Steve McClary, Interim City Manager DATE: April 22, 2016 SUBJECT: Weekly Update __________________________________________________________________________________ Large Live Oak Down on Signal St: At approximately 3pm Friday (4/21) a large oak fell at the southwest corner of Signal and Summer Streets intersection. This was a beautiful older oak, roughly 3-foot diameter trunk. The tree fell from private property onto Signal Street blocking southbound traffic. The tree was cleared for traffic by 6pm, but downed utilities will keep street closed until later Thursday night. Parents’ Night Out: On Friday, April 22, the Ojai Recreation Department is hosting another “Parents’ Night Out” featuring the movie “Home”. The event runs from 6:00 – 9:00pm with free play in our game room for the first hour with the movie starting at 7:00pm. The evening includes pizza, popcorn and beverage all for just $10 dollars! It’s open to children 5 years of age and older. The event is held in the Boyd Center at Sarzotti Park; 510 Park Road. Recreation Open House May 21 Mark your calendars! On Saturday, May 21 from 11:00am – 2:00pm, the Ojai Recreation Department is celebrating its 3rd Annual Open House. We will have games, free food, jump houses, a climbing wall, raffle prizes and class demonstrations throughout the day. We will also be accepting registration for our summer programs. Please join us for an awesome day of fun and excitement. VCTC Transportation Tax Measure Today, the Ventura County Transportation Commission (VCTC) approved an investment plan with 50% going to local streets and roads from a proposed transportation sales tax measure. They also approved the distribution formula for local roads as proposed by the county’s city managers. If placed on the ballot, and then approved by voters, the plan would bring a minimum $500,000 a year to the City to improve local streets and roads.
