WELCOME TO CONESTOGA VALLEY YOUTH FOOTBALL Conestoga Valley Youth Football Association (CVYFA) strives to continue to make positive changes to our program with the adaptation of organizational By-Laws and Standard Operating Guidelines in an effort to operate more efficiently and keep parents better informed about the organization. We encourage and recommend each parent to read and review the Standard Operating Guidelines prior to enrolling in registration. Our program can only continue to get better with the on-going support of our coaches, parents, & Booster Club Officers. Include is some important information you need to know about our organization when signing your player up for CV Football. Unlike many other sports, the Conestoga Valley Youth Football program is a vigorous commitment on behalf of the players and parents. An optional Youth Football Camp will take place from July 30, 2016. Pre-registration for the camp is recommended. This flyer will be posted on www.cvbucks.com. Mandatory Conditioning practices will take place on August 8, 9, 10th. The first two weeks of football practice, August 8-August 19, are held every night (Monday - Friday) from 6pm-8pm. Starting August 22, 2016, football practice is held every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday night each week from 6pm-8pm. Regular football games are played on Saturdays or Sundays with various start times each week. There is a possibility of some teams playing games in the evenings during the week also. Players are expected to be at all practices and regular games. The football season starts the in August and can last up to November 19 when the final championship game is played. To help offset the rising costs of our program, players are expected to participate in various fundraising activities throughout the season. Sub Sale is mandatory, unless the opt out fee is paid in full. Parents are also expected to assist with manning the concession stand throughout the season. Parents need to be mindful that football is an intense physical sport and player injuries may unfortunately occur from time to time. The CVYFA strives to issue each player with all the protective football equipment they will need throughout the season. The CVYFA has mandated that all Head Coaches take the CDC on-line concussion training to ensure that safety measures are in place to protect our players. The CVYFA DOES NOT guarantee playing time for any player within our program. Playing time in regular football games is determined by the Head Coach of each team. Some players may see more playing time in regular football games than some of their teammates. Players who see limited playing time during regular games will have other opportunities to play in Junior Varsity games at the C and B team levels throughout the season. Junior Varsity games are usually played on Monday nights between 6:30pm-9pm and are usually played as away games. We are typically scheduled to play 9 regular season games per season. This means you may have to travel to other high school fields such as Eastern York, Solanco, E-town, or Octorora. Prepare yourself that you will need to travel throughout the season.
(continued on back)
Each Team may be divided into a Varsity Squad and a Junior Varsity Squad. The older, more experienced players are usually on the Varsity Squad and the younger, less experienced players are on the Junior Varsity Squad. The Red Rose League By-Laws mandate what age and weight limits are for the players in our organization. Each team (A, B, C, D) have an age and weight limit requirement. If your player’s weight exceeds the maximum weight limit for his team, you should consult the Head Coach to see what your options are. Players are normally not permitted to play in regular season games if their weight exceeds the maximum limit unless the Head Coach from the opposing team you are playing permits that player to play in that game. Because of the competitive nature of our sport, this exception is not a common practice. The CVYFA Booster Club meetings are posted on the cvbucks.com website each month. The best way to stay informed about our program is to get involved and attend the CVYFA Booster Club meetings or check us out on Facebook. You are also encouraged to check out our website regularly for upcoming events and organizational information such as our policies, CVYFA By-laws, and the Red Rose By-laws.
