Dress Code for Elementary School 46 LVA believes a standardized dress code for its students fosters a focused attitude toward learning. We strive to create an atmosphere of equality by removing the name brands and status symbols that are subtle, yet often distinguishing signs of social standing. Required attire varies depending upon grade level and is described in detail below. All students must arrive to school in dress code and remain in dress code while on school property. Elementary Dress Code‐ Grades 4‐6 General Requirements for Standardized Dress, P.E. Classes, and Dress‐Down Days: ● All clothing and accessories must be clean and free of holes or tears. ● Logos other than the LVA logo are not permitted. ● All clothing must be of the correct size, fitting at the waist, shoulders, inseam, and be worn as designed. ● Form‐fitting or transparent material or styles that expose the torso, back, or shoulders are not permitted. ● Clothing and accessories may not advertise violence, alcoholic beverages, illegal substances and/or tobacco products, inappropriate language or symbols. ● Shorts and skirts may be no more than 2 inches above the knee. ● Solid black, brown, navy dress shoes or solid black sneakers only. ● Shoes must be closed‐toe with a standard‐width heel that is secured to the foot with a maximum height of 1½ inches. ● Hats/Head coverings are not permitted indoors unless required by religious practice or deemed medically necessary. When permitted, hats/head coverings must be an approved LVA dress code color. Dresses: ● Girls’ Short Sleeve Mesh Polo Dress ● Girls’ Long Sleeve Mesh Polo Dress ● Permitted colors are light blue and navy blue . Tops: ● Logos other than those included on LVA‐purchased clothing are not permitted. ● Solid‐colored collared shirt, collared blouse, or traditional golf shirt with a collar and short or long sleeves. Permitted colors are white , light blue , navy blue, and maroon . ● Tops must be tucked in at all times. ● Solid colored (no patterns) sweaters, vests, and cardigans may be worn. Permitted colors are white , light blue , navy blue, and maroon . ● LVA navy blue crew neck or LVA navy blue quarter zip sweatshirts are both permitted all days with a collared shirt underneath. ● Solid colored (no patterns) sweatshirts and fleece tops are only permitted for physical education class. Permitted colors are white , light blue , navy blue and maroon . ● Hooded sweaters or sweatshirts are not permitted in school. Bottoms: ● Navy blue dress shorts or dress pants for boys ● Navy blue dress shorts, dress pants, skorts, or skirts for girls ● Bottoms must be cotton twill or corduroy. Cargo‐style pants are not permitted. No denim, skinny, stretch, or yoga style jeans/pants allowed. ● Belts must be worn with pants that have belt loops. ● Solid white or solid navy blue socks or tights are required with all dress shoes. Physical Education Attire: ● Navy blue shorts or sweat pants – solid color, LVA logo optional (no stripes/other logos) ● Solid colored short or long sleeve t‐shirt or sweat shirt Permitted colors are white , light blue , navy blue, and maroon . ● Sneakers that do not produce marks on the floor are required. Jewelry/ Personal adornments/ Accessories: ● Items that pose a safety concern, cause a distraction/disruption, or are worn for purposes other than their intended use are prohibited.
