Brown ISBN: 0-618-00729-6 School Phone: 540-433-2651 HHS Website: http://web.harrisonburg.k12.va.us/hhs Course Description A course that provides an in-depth study of advanced algebra topics, analytic geometry, trigonometry and function analysis, sequences and series, vector analysis and proof methods by mathematical induction. This course provides a more in-depth study of the Pre-Calculus topics than the Dual Enrolled Pre-Calculus or HS Pre-Calculus. HHS Honor Code Students at Harrisonburg High School are to assume the responsibility to ensure that all assignments completed and submitted are the original work of the student. Cheating, plagiarism, and fraud in any form are considered ethical violations and will not be tolerated. Students suspected of violating the honor code may be subject to consequences and disciplinary action.

Student Expectations The best way to learn Pre-Calculus is by developing the concepts that arise from the problems we will study. Thus the student is expected to assume the responsibility for learning with the instructor providing the guidance through problem presentation and discussion. The student is expected to do all assignments, which are due the day of the unit test. All assignments are indicated on the syllabus and must be done on notebook paper. There will be a daily quiz on the previous day’s assignment to check for understanding. The unit tests are indicated on the syllabus. At the end of the course the student will have to take a comprehensive final exam. Class Cell Phone Policy: Cell phones will only be out and visible if directed by the instructor for educational purposes. I consider this a professional courtesy and expectation. Evaluation Criteria Your grade will be calculated by the ratio of points earned to total points possible over the academic year. Point values are described below. If a student scores below an 80% on a quiz, they are expected to remediate and take a 2nd version. Homework: 20 pts. Per assignment Quiz: 100 points Tests: 100 points per day of the unit Final: 2000 points Grading Scale:
