The purpose of this course is to emphasize the study of functions and other skills necessary for the study of calculus at the college level. The content should include, but not be limited to the following: polynomial, rational, exponential, inverse, logarithmic, and circular functions; sequences and series; concept of limits; vectors; conic sections; polar coordinate systems; symbolic logic; mathematical induction; matrix algebra; and trigonometry.

Complete assignments daily. Take clear and concise notes. Study daily. Read the section before beginning the homework. Ask questions to clarify difficulties. Get help the SAME day. Maintain consistent attendance.

PRECALCULUS WITH LIMITS

Classroom Expectations 1. Abide by all school rules as per student handbook. (Cell phone use, dress code, beverages, computers, etc…) 2. Be punctual and attend class consistently. 3. Respect others space, property and person. 4. Use positive communication skills. Be polite, courteous and respectful. 5. Come to class with an attitude receptive to learning. Any deviations from the above may result in a reprimand, a parent phone call, an assigned detention, a referral or any such combination. Passes Bathroom and Clinic passes are issued for extreme emergencies only. Every effort should be made to visit the restroom between classes. Attendance Please read carefully the section in your student handbook on attendance. Remember: 1. It is your responsibility to get all work missed due to an absence. All assignments can be found on my website. 2. If you are absent the test day only, you will take it during class the day of your return. 3. If you are absent the day of a review, you will take the test as scheduled. 4. Recovery time will be required for absences in excess of seven (7) classes. (This includes excused absences.) Office Hours I am available for additional help!!!!! Tutoring is available in the mornings on Tuesday and Thursday at 7:15 a.m. and in the afternoons on Monday and Thursday from 2:55 p.m. to 3:30p.m.. If posted dates and times do not work for you, please speak with me to work out a good time to meet. All tutoring takes place in F224. Supplies You will need the following supplies: a folder for notes and graded papers, a supply of white, looseleaf notebook paper, pencils and erasers, a TI-83+ or higher graphing calculator.

Grading Procedures

The six week grade is comprised of three categories: Tests, Quizzes and Daily Work

Daily Work (10%) 1. Classwork/Homework: 10 points each (typically) 2. Warm-Ups/Closure Activities: 5 points each (typically) Quizzes (30%) Points and frequency vary. I reserve the right to give “pop” quizzes. Tests (60%) All tests may be cumulative and should be studied for accordingly. Be prepared to take both calculator active and inactive tests. The dates will be announced verbally, on the “Assignment” board, and on the website. It is your responsibility to be aware of test dates. Topics assessed may cover classwork, homework and/or cumulative material. Assignments All graded work is to be done in PENCIL. Each assignment should begin on a clean sheet of paper. Assignments should be set-up as follows:

Extra Credit No individual extra credit will be extended. Please do NOT ask. Cheating The following will be considered cheating: a cell phone visible, audible, or in use at any point during an assessment, the use of a calculator on a non-calculator assessment, copying or allowing others to copy any portion of an assignment or assessment, sharing any items (pencil, eraser, calculator, etc…) during an assessment, talking, whispering or communicating with anyone other than Mrs. H during an assessment including after your assessment has been submitted. Cheating violations will result in a zero for the test or assignment, a parent phone call, notification to Honor Society sponsor(s) (where applicable) and a referral.
