The Tiger 1956 Yearbook PUBLISHED BY THE
Senior Class Of
Exeter High Schoo I Exeter, Missouri
..I
Class History The Senior Class of 1956 are leaving behind them four pleasant and very happy years a t Exeter High School.
)
On the first day, 21 green Freshmen entered on the start of tneirlasr years of their school career. In this memorial year. we we~t to Monett, Springfield and Colum"bia on our music trip. We will long
rern ern ber this grea t trip. The historical event of the year was the dedica tion of the grade school build-
ing. In our Sophomore year 18 more students from Gassville entered into our midst. This made a class of 36. Vfe were still one of the lower ~lasses. but we were fast becoming recognized. Most of the boys an.d girls were entered into softball, vOlleyball. basketball and the pep club.
' W·e started our Junior year with great interest and with an enrollment of 35. As usual, most of the cla'ss was "'p articipating in all sports. Mrs. Stubblefield, our English teacher, sponsored our first play, "Take Your Medicine", which everyone likedverymuch. Thencame the Junior and Senior trip to the Lake of the Ozarks. This will be remembered by all of us forever. We stopped at Phantom Acres where we all gor the thrill of our life. We elected Martha Jane Pilant and J. D. Ennis as candidates for queen and king of the carnival. Jackie Meadows was our annual queen candidate and we crowned Jo Ann England basketball queen, And so ended our third year a r Exerer High School. In the fall of 1955, 27 students entered for their Senior year at good old E. H. S, We elected our class officers: President, Joe Cantrell; Vice President, J. D., Ennis; Secretary, Jo Ann England; Treasurer: Ferrell Bowers; and Reporter, Je rrell Bowers. We were honored by crowning Mary Ennis and Kenneth McGrud er carnival queen and king, and Evelyn Brown one of the annual queens. We also produced our second dramatic play and enjoyed the ba~quet given to us by the Juniors. Also sneak day, which was a very enjoyable trip (you try to guess where we went). Now, we a re looking forward to the great day in May when we will receive our diplomas, and we will be leaving E. H. S. forever , we hope! As we are leaving we want to leave ,the other students a little word of good advice. Carryon your work as successfully as we ha ve ours and make it a great class of 1957.
