DEDICATION

Th~ 198'5-86 Exeter Annual Staff would like to dedicate chis year's annual to our superintendent, Mr. D avid R. Burns. H is leadership has helped to bring our school out of a deficit, and make many much needed improvements. Under his guidance, we have built a new high school and a new shop building. We have also purchased quite a lot of new equipment for the new building, new buses, and recrntly a new mini bus. He has also been helpful in raising teachers salaries a commendable ammount over the past. There are plans for more improvements in the near future . Mr. Burn's loyal dedication over the past three years has greatly improved the quality of our schools. We would like to take this opportunity to speak for all the students of Exeter when we say, 'Thank you, Mr. Burns, for making our school one of which we can be proud."

APPRECIATION The Annual Staff would also like to express their appreciation to Me. Clint Clark. The members of the paper staff worked very hard getting the paper Out on time. The staff had a week to get the news gathered, typed, proofread, corrected , artwork prepared, assembled, and printed. Each issue wa"s full of news from each classroom. The issues also had a fun page full of activities to do when you got done reading all the news. Edicor SaUy Warren says, "I feel we had a ve ry produccive year and a lot of new ideas were brought to the Exeter sc hool paper."

The Exeter H igh School Student Council has many acciviries during a school year. Many of the act ivities may even go unnoticed by the majority of the stu dents. For example, they provide fee dba ck from the students co the administration. They also provide in put into the student handbook, and ocher school concerns. In addition, they sponsor such activities as the T ipOff Dance and the Miss Merry Christmas election and pageant. They sold spirit bags before Ch ristmas to help fund these activities. Office rs of the Student Council are elected by the student body after a three· day campaign and an assembly of campaign speeches. Other officers include each class president and an elected representative from each class. The student council is an important part of our school.

Future Ho memakers of America is a nationally known organi zation whose goal is to share ideas and activities chat will aid youth in developing competent skills for the family life and future careers. The Exeter Chapter of F.H.A. started out the 1985-1986 school year by attending the Region II convention in Carl Junction. President J ana Tucker won the R.O.S.E. award, and the group as a whole won an award for attendance, and received a National Membership Recognition Certificate for having more than 40 members. On October 18, the F. H.A. held a Rock-a-Thon. The members got people to sponsor them, and rocked on the square at Cassville for twenty-four hours to raise money fo r the March of Dimes and the Barry County Developmental Cente r. They received a trophy from the March of Dimes for their donation. F.H.A. closed Out the year by going on a field trip to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City.

The Pep Club had a successful year, with help from the sponsor, Miss J ean Beatie. There wa s good attendance at home ga mes , and there was usually room on the buses to cake extra pep club members to away ga mes. At the fi rst meeting of the school yea r, it was decided that selling candy stic ks would once aga in be the fundraisier to earn money for the Homeco ming. Later on in the year, Tiger paws were sold to help boost school spirit. As everyone knows, Homecoming is the Pep Club's biggest project during the school yea r. This year's Homecoming, with the theme "IN THE AIR " was a big SUCcess despite the cancellation and rescheduling due to snow. The victory over Southwest in the Junior Varsity and especially the Varsity game left everyone in the mood for celebration, which took place in the form of a dance. Music for the dance was provided by U.S. 97, and there was music ro please everyone. Overall, there was a large turnout to both the Homecoming game and dance. The success of Homecoming meant a successful year for Pep Club.

The Varsity Boys finished with a 8-16 record . Raindance ????? ?

They were picked to finish 6th in conference, but they ended up 5th. Highlights of the seasons were, when the Tigers beat McAuley in 4 overtimes, victory over Southwest at Homecoming, and beating Seneca, a team that won their 2A Regional.

Would you get off my back!!!

Due to inju ries and other difficulties the team was forced to play mostly younger players, hopefully, gaining experience. SCOtt Ethridge had a great year. He was the areas leading scorer he led the club in rebounding , scoring, and shooting percentage. SCOtt was named to the AIl·District, All-Area 3rd team, KURM Dream Team, and AlI·Conference teams. Calvin Frazier led in free throw percentage, and Urian Coffey led the team in assists. Next year we hope to have a very good season.
