FSD1 Google Apps for Education Tips
1. The best browser to use is Google Chrome. 2. Firefox is also a browser that can be used but Internet Explorer does not work as well.
3. You can use the link from the FSD1 website which will take you directly to the FSD1 Google Apps for Education site.
4. If you simply open the browser in Chrome, the page will probably look like this:
5. Click on the blue Sign In box in the upper right corner. A sign-in prompt like the one below will appear.
6. The e-mail username is always as follows: student’s last name, first initial, last 3 digits of the student’s ID, then the extension: @students.fsd1.org (be sure there is an “s” at the end of the word “student”) For example, a student with the name of Jane Doe and the last 3 digits of the ID being 578, the email username would be:
[email protected] After the email information is entered, click on the blue Next box where the password will be requested. The password is the one the student created and should be memorized. If either the username or password is incorrectly entered, an error message will appear. 7. After signing in, look for the 9 small boxes beside the student’s name in the upper right corner of the screen like this:
Click on the boxes first click on Drive from the menu – see below. After opening Drive, go back up and click on the boxes again and choose More at the bottom of the menu box.
Click on Drive first.
Go back to the 9 boxes in Step 7, then click on More.
8. Now the Classroom (icon below) will be available. When your student chooses this icon, all classes he/she has joined at school will be available.
9. There is no “Save” button; all work is automatically saved as your student works. Be sure your students logs out after he/she is finished working. This is a very important step and good habit to assure First click on the student’s icon (looks nobody else can accidentally revise the work like a head) your student has done. The arrows below show where to click to sign out. (Your student’s icon will probably be a round circle with what looks like a head in it rather than the bookworm picture below.)
Then click on Sign Out for student to be logged off of their account.
