What is the Australian Government up to? In the 1960’s Australia helped Indonesia take over West Papua. Since then 500,000i West Papuans have been genocided! 4 Questions When people first hear about the West Papuan Genocide they generally ask four common questions. Question 1 - What is Australia doing to HELP? The genocide is happening only 200km away from Australia. Surely the Australian Government is doing something to HELP? The shocking truth is that the Australian Government helped create and is sustaining the West Papuan Genocide!ii Question 2 - Why is so little known about the Genocide? There are many answers to this question and three answers are as follows. The Lombok Treaty: In 2006 the Australian Government signed an evil treaty with the Indonesian Government called the Lombok Treatyiii. By signing this treaty the Australian Government has effectively gagged itself from speaking up about the Genocide. Journalist Executions: Journalists have a bad habit of getting killed in Indonesiaiv. Indonesia effectively has a media blackout and if you don’t comply then life is risky. When an Australian journalist gets executed in Indonesia the Australian Government does its best to ignore it and do nothing. Refugees: In the past 15 years some 80,000 refugees have come to Australia via Indonesia. The Indonesian Government manages the flow of refugeesv and decides what refugees Australia gets. And West Papuans are not allowed to escape! Only a handful of West Papuans have managed to get to Australia. So on the one hand the Indonesian Government pushes through 80,000 refugees to Australia. And on the other hand the Indonesian Government with the help of the Australian Government genocides 500,000 West Papuans.
Question3 - Why is the Australian Government doing what it is Doing? Why is the Australian Government involved in genocide? Why did the Australian Government help Indonesia take over West Papua?
Trained by Australians!
Why does the Australian Government give $billions of dollars in humanitarian aid to a regime that commits genocide? Why does the Australian Government get our soldiers to train human rights abusers? Why is the Australian Government hell bent on doing all of these kinds of evil? The answer to all these questions is the ‘Love of Money’. West Papua is resource rich and Australian companies want that wealth. Question 4 - What can I do to Help? If this is your question too then for just $1 please become a member of the Free West Papua (Political) Party (FWPP). We need members to be successful. The Australian Government is a major hindrance to West Papua’s freedom. The FWPP believes that the Australian Government has more say in the fate of West Papuans than the Indonesian Government does. We need to change the heart of the Australian Government towards West Papua. But we have few options as both the Labor Party and the Coalition give bipartisan support to the policies that sustain the West Papua Genocidevi. Furthermore, the political parties that have shown some support for West Papua have not been effective enough. 90% of informed Australians support a Free West Papua. It’s just that the 10% that don’t are running our country. For this reason we have decided to launch the FWPP. This is exciting news and we hope that it is the game changer that frees West Papua! Instead of being outside the government pleading with them to act, we aim to be inside the parliament, as a new party, steering Australian policy to free West Papua. With your membership the FWPP will campaign in the next federal election and if successful we will steer Australia to free West Papua. A great ocean liner can be steered by a small rudder and the FWPP will be that rudder to the Australian Government. We have a vision … of Australia demonstrating Leadership and Integrity to the world! We have a vision … of the Australian Spirit of Courage and Mate-Ship! We have a vision … of Australia Freeing West Papua! Let’s STOP the bloodshed! Merdeka! Paul Madden, Free West Papua Party Leader, 2015 * For all endnotes and queries you may have, please email

500,000 killed: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morning_Star_flag Australian Government helped create the West Papuan Genocide: I.J.M Sutherland to D. Murray, ‘Foreign Office Southeast Asian Department, April 30,1968. PRO: FCO 15/162 DH1/7: The strength of the Indonesian position lies in the fact that … they must know that, even if there are protests about the way they go through the motions of consultation, no other power is likely to conceive it as being in their interests to intervene. . . . I understand that the exiles may find support in the Australian press. But I cannot imagine the US, Japanese, Dutch, or Australian Governments putting at risk their economic and political relations with Indonesia on a matter of principle involving a relatively small number of very primitive peoples. http://freewestpapua.org/documents/un-involvement-with-the-act-of-self-determination-in-west-irian-1968-to-1969-by-johnsaltford/ D.
