Full-time, tenure-track International Maritime Business Faculty
Posting: July 2017 (Revised) Start date: March/September 2018 Position Number: FY17-13 Division: Academic; International Maritime Business Department Union Affiliation: Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) Application Deadline: Position will remain open until filled Supervision Received: Reports to the IMB Department Chair and to the Vice President of Academic Affairs Supervision exercised: Supervises professional, classified, and student personnel in areas of responsibility General responsibilities: Teach college level courses in the International Maritime Business department. Specific teaching responsibilities will be based upon education and experience in one or more of the following disciplines: Accounting, Analytics, Information Systems, Finance, Management, Marketing, and/or Quantitative Methods. Advise undergraduate students. Serve on departmental and campus-wide committees. Assist with co-operative and international experiential learning programs. Qualifications and requirements: A terminal degree in a relevant discipline (such as those listed above) from an accredited institution AND full-time collegiate teaching experience (if seeking appointment at the Associate or Professor levels), OR A master’s degree in a relevant discipline (such as those listed above), AND two or more years of professional/management work experience. Academic rank is commensurate with education and experience and subject to Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) collective bargaining agreement.
Appointments at the Instructor level require a master’s degree and professional experience (and promotion will require earning a terminal degree). Tenure-track appointments at the Assistant Professor level require an earned terminal degree. Tenure-track appointments at the Associate Professor or Professor level require progressively increasing levels of teaching experience at an accredited college or university, in addition to an earned terminal degree.
Preferred qualifications: Extensive teaching experience at the undergraduate level Experience in online and experiential teaching and learning Experience in assessment/assurance of student learning Demonstrated record and/or interest in research and scholarship Significant professional experience and knowledge (particularly in maritime fields, industries, and businesses) Experience with Regimental systems and/or military service Salary: Commensurate with experience and subject to the MSCA collective bargaining agreement plan.
