Full-time, tenure-track International Maritime Business Faculty
Posting: November 2016 Start date: March/September 2017 Position Number: FY17-13 Division: Academic; International Maritime Business Department Union Affiliation: Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) Application Deadline: Position will remain open until filled Supervision Received: Reports to the IMB Department Chair and to the Vice President of Academic Affairs Supervision exercised: Supervises professional, classified, and student personnel in areas of responsibility General responsibilities: Teach courses in management and maritime business fields. The curriculum may be viewed online at the following web address: https://www.maritime.edu/international‐maritime‐business‐undergraduate‐degree Advise college level students Assist with development of newly established International Maritime Business Center on campus Assist with the development of an International Maritime Business graduate program Participate in college-wide governance and Department Committees; assist with Co-op programs, Experiential learning initiatives, Advisory Boards, and Open Houses Participate in annual Sea Term program (optional) Qualifications and requirements: Tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level or above requires either a: Terminal degree in a relevant discipline; or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline and a USCG upper level license with current STCW credentials and significant experience in the business of shipping or similarly related industry experience. Appointment for this candidate would be considered Blue/Gold Maritime Professional Faculty and require alternate sea term participation (all maritime personnel are subject to rand drug testing). Preferred qualifications: Proven teaching experience at undergraduate and graduate levels Experience in teaching in an online format and experiential learning initiatives Professional certifications Salary: Commensurate with experience and subject to the MSCA collective bargaining agreement plan.
