GENERAL AUDIENCE The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia and Alzheimer's If you or someone you know is affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, it’s time to learn the facts. This program provides information on detection, causes and risk factors, stages of the disease, treatment, and much more.
Healthy Living for Your Brain and Body: Tips from the Latest Research Join us to learn about research in the areas of diet and nutrition, exercise, cognitive activity and social engagement. We’ll use hands-on tools to help you incorporate these recommendations into a plan for healthy aging.
Know the 10 Signs: Early Detection Matters Attend this program to learn the 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s disease. We’ll separate myth from reality and address commonly-held fears about Alzheimer’s disease. Hear from people who have the disease and find out how to recognize the signs in yourself and others.
FOR CARE PARTNERS Dementia Conversations This workshop offers tips on how to have honest and caring conversations with family members about going to the doctor, deciding when to stop driving, and making legal and financial plans.
Effective Communication Strategies As people with Alzheimer’s disease progress in their journey and the ability to use words is lost, families need new ways to connect. Join us to explore how communication may change. Learn to decode the messages delivered by someone with dementia and develop strategies to help you connect and communicate at each stage of the disease.

Legal and Financial Planning for Alzheimer’s Disease In this interactive two-part program, you will have a chance to learn about important legal and financial issues to consider, how to put plans in place, and how to access legal and financial resources near you.
Living with Alzheimer’s: For Caregivers: Early Stage In the early stage of Alzheimer’s disease, families face new questions as they adjust. What does the diagnosis mean? What kinds of plans need to be made? What resources are available to help? Join us for this three-part series to hear practical answers to the questions that arise in the early stage. Hear from those directly affected and learn what you can do to cope with the changes that come with an early-stage diagnosis.
Living with Alzheimer’s: For Caregivers: Middle Stage In the middle stage of Alzheimer’s disease, those who were care partners now become hands-on caregivers. Join us for this three-part series and hear caregivers and professionals discuss helpful strategies to provide safe, effective, and comfortable care in the middle stage of Alzheimer’s.
Living with Alzheimer’s: For Caregivers: Late Stage In the late stage of Alzheimer’s disease, caregiving typically involves new ways of connecting and interacting with the person with the disease. Join us for this two-part series and hear from caregivers and professionals about resources, monitoring care and providing meaningful connections for the person with late-stage Alzheimer’s and their families.
Understanding and Responding to Dementia-Related Behavior Join us to learn how to decode behavioral messages, identify common behavior triggers, and incorporate strategies to help intervene with some of the most common behavioral challenges of Alzheimer’s disease.
FOR PEOPLE WITH ALZHEIMER’S Living with Alzheimer’s for People with Younger-Onset Alzheimer’s When someone under 65 is diagnosed with Younger-Onset Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia, the first reaction is often shock or denial. Join us for this series of programs that provide answers to the questions that arise for people concerned about Younger-Onset Alzheimer’s disease or another dementia. Hear from those directly affected and learn what you need to know, what you need to plan, and what you can do to ease the impact throughout the course of the disease.
Living with Alzheimer’s for People with Alzheimer’s The diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease is life-changing and leads to many questions. What will this mean for me and my family? How do I plan for the future? Join us for this three-part program and have a chance to hear from others who have been where you are discussing what you need to know, what you need to plan, and what you can do to develop and work with your care team.

FOR THE WORKPLACE Alzheimer’s in the Workplace Alzheimer’s can have a devastating impact on people at work – not only on those with the disease, but on the people who care for them. Learn how to meet the needs of an aging workforce and care partners in this session. Please note: The Alzheimer’s Workplace Alliance (AWA) is a group of nearly 2,000 leading companies and organizations that have stepped up as leaders in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease. These companies support their employees, customers, members and other stakeholders with resources, tools and information on Alzheimer’s disease. Interested organizations can join the AWA and/or sign up to receive AWA news by visiting alz.org/AWA.
Support Groups Building a support system with people who understand is imperative for family caregivers and people living with the disease.
CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUPS Our caregiver support groups, conducted by trained facilitators, are a safe place for caregivers, family and friends of persons with dementia to: • Develop a support system • Exchange practical information on caregiving challenges and possible solutions • Talk through issues and ways of coping • Share feelings, needs and concerns • Learn about community resources For those caregivers who feel they could benefit from a support group, yet find it difficult to travel to a meeting site, we have a telephone support group. For more information regarding joining the telephone support group, call 800.272.3900.
EARLY STAGE SUPPORT GROUPS These groups are specifically designed for those individuals who are in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease or other form of dementia. Meetings include the person with an early stage diagnosis of dementia and a caregiver. Registration for these groups is required in advance. Please contact Mollie George at 800.272.3900 for more information about upcoming Early Stage Support Groups and Early Stage Social Engagement Groups for Spring and Fall of 2018.
