Incident Sea accident in Lampiningan Island Isabela City, Basilan
Brief Description A sea mishap occurred in the vicinity of Lampiningan Island, Isabela City, Basilan. The MV Fatima Sur bumped with a motorized banca. There were at least twenty (20) persons who have been rescued in the incident. Health Consequences:

The L-300 van lost its control when the tire of the said vehicle exploded and turned over four times while transversing the National Highway in Tuganay, Carmen Davao del Norte. There were at least nineteen (19) passengers who sustained injuries. Health Consequences:

Incident Vehicular Accident in Barangay Valencia, Alegria, Cebu
Brief Description
Initial Report:
Last February 22, 2016, a vehicular accident occurred in Valencia Alegria, Cebu resulting to three (3) deaths and fifteen (15) injured. According to the report, a multicab was moving downhill and had a brake problem wherein the driver rammed the vehicle into a coconut tree before it fell into the ravine. All victims were rushed to Badian District Hospital but three of them were declared dead on arrival.

II. ONGOING EVENTS (3) A. FIRE INCIDENT AT PHOENIX PETRON TERMINAL AND INDUSTRIAL PARK, BARANGAY SALONG, CALACA, BATANGAS (Monitored since February 20,2016) CURRENT SITUATION: As of February 24, 2016 fire is still ongoing but reported under control. Two injured individuals were discharged from Bayview and Batangas Provincial Hospital. The municipality of Calaca, Batangas declared state of emergency since February 21, 2016. B. DISPLACED POPULATION DUE TO ARMED CONFLICT IN DATU SALIBO AND DATU SAUDI AMPATUAN IN MAGUINDANAO (Monitored since February 9, 2016) CURRENT SITUATION: A total 3,754 families/ 18,770 individuals were reported to be affected by this armed conflict. These numbers are constantly changing for most of the IDPs are mobile. Displaced families from Datu Saudi Ampatuan went to evacuation centers in Mahad Madia, Elian Market Sitand Elian Primary School. While the displaced families from municipality of Datu Salibo went to evacuation centers in Mahad, Sambulawan, Mahad Imam and Municipality of Datu Piang. As of February 23, 2016, there were five (5) reported injured due to the said incident. One was brought to Cotabato Regional and Medical Center for treatment, status of whom to follow. Four (4) other injured victims were treated as outpatient. The Regional Office of ARMM augmented CAMPOLAS to Datu Salibo RHU and Madia Evacuation Center in Datu Saudi Ampatuan. C. GRENADE BLASTING INCIDENT IN PERYAHAN VILLAGE, ESPERANZA, SULTAN KUDARAT (Monitored since February 21, 2016) CURRENT SITUATION: One (1) death and forty eight (48) injured victims were reported from this incident. Out of the injured, thirty (30) were treated as outpatient while eighteen (18) are still admitted at various hospitals. Fourteen (14) out of whom are admitted at Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital, two (2) at Dr. Domingo B. III. SPECIAL EVENTS (2) A. DROUGHT/DRY SPELL BROUGHT ABOUT BY EL NIÑO PHENOMENON CURRENT SITUATION: Last January 19, 2016, the Province of Cotabato declared under the State of Calamity. A total of twenty three (23) provinces, mostly from Visayas and Mindanao were affected by dry spell; while the provinces of Northern Samar, Samar (Western Samar) and North Cotabato experienced drought conditions since December 2015. The municipality of South Upi in Maguindanao suffered greatly. Eleven (11) barangays are affected by the drought with 7,050 households/ 42,300 individuals. Rivers and springs had dried up; top soils have cracked, corn and rice fields turned into brown, and there is scarcity of potable water. The extreme heat has also caused adverse effects on the well-being of the affected residents. There have been reports of water-borne diseases such as diarrhea and vomiting and heat-related illness such as cough and cold, sore eyes, fever and skin diseases. B. 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF EDSA PEOPLE REVOLUTION BACKGROUND: EDSA People Power Anniversary is a nationwide observance and schoolholiday in the Philippines as declared every year. Filipinos commemorate a revolution that restored democracy in the Philippines in 1986. Thousands of students will join the traditional reenactment and program of the “Salubungan” to be held at EDSA Cor., White Plains, Quezon City on the 25th of February 2016. Traditional features of the celebration include the flag raising and commemorative program where His Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III is the guest of honor. The Metro Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (MMDRRMC) will manage the overall preparedness and management operations that may occur during the celebration. OCD-NCR requested medical team augmentation from the Department of Health to be assigned to different staging areas, specifically at the incident command post, Office of Civil Defense ground in Camp Aguibnaldo, Quezon City that will be 24 hours operational starting on Feb. 2425, 2016. Relative to this, the DOH NCRO deployed two (2) medical teams to attend to any medical emergency and untoward incident that may occur during the entire celebration.
