On behalf of the PTO, we would like to welcome everyone back to school. PTO stands for Parent-Teacher Organization, consisting of parents and teachers working together to support and enrich all students. We support school staff, help promote student self-esteem, and assist in efforts to solve school needs through volunteers and funding. 100% of your membership fee goes directly back to our school. Your PTO steps up to fill the gaps in school funding to improve and maintain your child’s experience while they are here – whether through playground renovations, building improvements, prizes for student achievements, classroom supply requests, and too many other things to list. With you and your support we can do all this and so much more! The PTO is made up of 8 officers, staff members, and HJB families. Officers for this year are Aimee Kenyon, Gloria Greenwalt, Brande Rosner, Sherry Pugh, Lorraine Bittner, Lindsay Cook and Melissa Hutchings. We would like to thank all of our volunteers from last year for all their hard work and dedication. We were able to provide over $10,000.00 in funds to upgrade the playground, gift certificates for teachers for the Book Fair, teacher appreciation luncheons, and much more! We have planned some exciting events this year in hopes to get more parents involved in their children’s education. Here at Hilda J. Barbour, we strive for excellence and what better way than to become involved. The PTO is a team effort — we cannot succeed on our own. The PTO would like to encourage every parent and/or guardian to take a step into the school and observe your child soaring to new heights. Please come join us at our PTO meetings and events.
