ICAS (International Competitions and Assessments for Schools) Exams Thursday 18th February 2016 Dear Parents/Caregivers Every year throughout Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Asia the University of New South Wales - UNSW facilitate the running of academic ICAS competitions for Year 4 – 13 students. This year Redwood School will take part in the following competitions: - Digital Technologies – Tuesday 17th May, Science – Tuesday 31st May, Spelling – Wednesday 15th June, English – Tuesday 2nd August, Mathematics – Tuesday 16th August. The aim of the competitions is to provide students with a worthwhile and challenging experience that will foster their confidence and competence in the areas of Digital Technologies, Science, Spelling, English and Mathematics. On completion of the test, and once tests have been marked and processed students each receive a letter that outlines their correct responses, and provides the average mark for those students in their own country. The fee for the Digital Technologies, English, Science and Mathematics Competitions is $8:50. The fee for the Spelling Competition is $10:50 per student – this test is hand marked, hence the higher fee it incurs. Students can elect to do as many of the competitions as they wish. If you wish your child to take part please return the registration form and correct money by Friday 18th March. (You may make combined payments if entering more than one competition.) If more than one child in your family is entering please complete a separate slip for each child – but payments may be combined. If using Internet banking code the deposit as ‘ICAS Exams’. Even if you pay by Internet banking you must still return this form with the required information on it. Please note: ● No late entries can be accepted. ● On the day of each exam students are required to use a 2B or B pencil.
