Issue 3—November 2010 Box 95, Vermillion, KS 66544 Charitable Contribution under 501 (c) (3) Government Requirements EIN 90-0484830 Minutes of the November 29, 2010 FoVC, Inc. meeting Meeting called to order at 7: 15 PM by President Audrey Broxterman; members present ­Audrey & Bill Broxterman, Matthew Ekstrum, Alfred &, Marsha Engelken, Lynn Schafer, Marylyn Wenzl. Absent: Alison Slifer, Richard Gibbs. Minutes from May 2010 meeting approved as corrected. Treasurer's Report: accepted as presented Action Taken: 1. Audrey filed form 990N with the IRS late without penalty or fee; annual filing is to be done in July in the future, with a $40 fee. Audrey was given a log in number and password for future e-filing. 2. Lynn reported the Alumni Banquet attendees were attentive to her requests to sign the membership list for emailed or mailed newsletters, bought tee shirts and book marks, and asked about availability of a quilt raffle this year. There are about 50 book marks remaining, some having been donated to visitor's packets in Marysville. Unfinished Business: 1. Depot - The depot floor has been repaired by Community Club members Lyle W. and Bill B. The roof is an urgent need now. Members present requested three written bids for replacing the roof, but must first determine if old shingles contain asbestos and require specific disposal or can be used to repair the city building roof. A motion was passed to allocate $1,000 toward the depot roof expenses. Depot interior painting action deferred until April meeting. 2. Park - Red-twig dogwoods have been planted by Alf at the park entrance; replacement of the shelter house to be started in the spring, with adequate monies that are in the park account and with volunteer labor and supplies. 3. Library - The northwest window has been replaced. The City has agreed to replacement of southwest window to eliminate of further structural damage during the winter. No FoVC funds are needed since the library is using capital improvement monies augmented by the City. The library also is expecting delivery of a new storm door in December. 4. History Rooms - the wish list includes several additional requests. 5. City Beautification - Alf will check on repair of the library door overhang, crack and stucco; painting of the building is an option to consider this spring. The board voted that FoVC purchase thirteen flags for the city streets and park. Marylyn will check on price/quality and order. 6. Email address: [email protected] has been set up and Lynn will check weekly. The newsletter will inform and remind people of the address. New Business: 1. Newsletter - Those wishing to contribute to FoVC will be honored through four levels of Sponsorship: Platinum - $500$749;Gold -$250-$499; Silver $100-$249; Bronze $50-$99. It's hoped that some will sponsor FoVC annually, as well as enjoy participating in fund raisers. Memorial giving through endowments and wills are another option. One must remember that FoVC, Inc is a not-for-profit organization and you can contribute to this charitable organization tax free. 2. Future projects: Marsha and Alison will work on a Project Assistance Application; this form would accompany a personal or group request for project assistance from FoVC. 3. Budget: action deferred until April meeting. 4. Other: Matthew asked if FoVC received a check designated for two or more projects, should it be equally divided between the projects. Those present agreed. 5. Notice: SPRING MEETING: Monday, April 4, 2011 with Potluck at the Alfred & Marsha Engelken home. Raffle tickets will be available online soon. T-Shirt Fund Raiser We still have “Hooked on Vermillion” T-Shirts available to those wishing to support the Depot project. These would make a great Christmas present. FoVC Inc., will be using the proceeds to help pay for the depot roof.

Meeting & Fund Raiser Notice The FoVC Inc. annual meeting, which is for all people interested in the betterment of Vermillion, will be held in April 4, 2011. Everyone is invited to attend. There will be a quilt raffle again in 2011. The beautiful multicolored full/queen quilt was donated by Lynn Schafer. Chances for the quilt are already available and may be downloaded from the website. Raffle contributions may be sent to the address below. Make checks payable to FoVC Inc indicating it’s for the quilt raffle. We will fill out your tickets for you if you wish. The quilt drawing will be during the Vermillion Alumni Banquet in May of 2011. We’re hoping someone will donate a new or vintage quilt for our 2012 fund raiser. If so, please contact us. Remember, we’re working together for Vermillion.
