Minutes FoVC, Inc Biannual Meeting: April 4, 2011 FoVC, Inc. potluck followed by a meeting was hosted by Alf and Marsha at their home. Meeting began at 7:25 PM, called to order by President Audrey Broxterman: present were: Alf, Marsha, Lynn, Audrey, Bill, Matthew, Dorothy, Marylyn. The minutes from 11/29/2010 were read and approved. Treasurer’s Report: Approved as presented. Dorothy asked for clarification of funds designated for the depot. Correspondence: Alison Slifer’s resignation was read, a motion made, seconded and passed to accept it. Other correspondence reported to the members were from John Walters and Forrest Haskins by e-mail. Donations from Loughary and Gray were noted and thank you notes sent. Unfinished Business: Park: Alf reported on the 26x46 steel shelter house with enlargement of the existing slab is estimated to cost from $4,500-$5,500. The members voted to give the $100 designated for ‘park’ to the City for grass seed. Lynn noted the recent drainage improvements done by Jeremiah Engelken, of E-Scape Design after the City took bids for the project. Museum: Marylyn is requesting pictures of old Vermillion residents for display; we will put the request in the upcoming newsletter. A display of wedding finery and a new picture donated by Carol Bennett from her mother Lois Duffy are in the ‘living room’. Several items are on the wish list to be included in the newsletter. Depot: Dorothy considered an offer to move the display cabinet from the library south room to the Depot to protect displays. Audrey reported the City Council is taking roof bids. Removal of the chimney and having the ridge row tightened is being considered. School: The school is planning a gym remodeling project. Library/City Building: The southwest window has been replaced. Measurements for the new front door were taken when the window was installed. It will hopefully be delivered and installed soon. It is not known who is donating the new door. Audrey will contact Jim VanGilder to move the research room electrical outlet inside. Alf will contact someone for repair of the exterior stucco on the City Building. Town Painting: The murals will be completed this summer by JoAnn and Becky. The members voted to organize a volunteer painting party for the City Building this summer after exterior repairs are completed. Gray paint will be purchased from Alf, and additional white paint purchased to lighten the gray color. Audrey will ask the Council permission to do this project as well as deliver the newly purchased flags Marylyn ordered for FoVC, Inc to donate to the city. Web Page: Matthew, Lynn and Audrey have the webpage www.friendsofvermillion.org up and running. Project Assistance Form: The form was completed by Marsha and approved by members with the exception of a yearly deadline. New Business: New Board Nominees: We are looking for new Board members. Those interested in serving on the board may contact FoVC. Inc. Budget: The members voted to budget $150 for newsletter expenses and the July IRS filing of form 990N fee of $40. Fundraising:  The newsletter will have quilt raffle tickets attached. Dorothy will take care of sales before the Alumni Banquet.  Audrey has contacted the Little Apple Chorus member Terry Smith about presenting an October benefit for FoVC, Inc. Tentative dates are between October 17 and November 6.  FoVC will be reprinting of our Vermillion Centennial Book to be offered for sale at the Alumni Banquet this year. Marylyn and Dorothy will pursue printing. Fall meeting date: Tuesday Oct. 18th, 5:30 PM at either the Library or the Community Church. We will have snacks afterward rather than a potluck before we meet. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:30 PM. Respectfully submitted, Lynn Schafer, Secretary
