Minutes FoVC, Inc Board Meeting November 19th, 2012. Present: Audrey, Matthew, Brittany, Lynn, Marsha, Alf, Marylyn, Linda and Jerry Secretary’s Report: Minutes March 2, 2012 read by Lynn and accepted. Treasurer’s Report: Matthew presented report, clarified profit for Memorial Day Lunch as $370; report accepted as presented; bills were presented for payment.

Friends of Vermillion Facebook page was established in December 2011. Now, many people are reconnecting with our little city. Sharing memories and pictures of Vermillion on Facebook has rekindled pleasant recollections. It Unfinished Business: A. New Business: A. Slate of Officers: Officers will be elected at the spring meeting 2013; the slate includes: President – Lynn Schafer; Vice President – Linda Ewing, Secretary – Audrey Broxterman, Treasurer– Matthew Ekstrum. Several names were put forward for the empty Board seats and they will be contacted before the spring meeting. B. Quilt Raffle: The FoVC, Inc website will be used to advertise the quilt raffle and include tickets that may be printed and filled in before submitted for the Memorial Day, 2012 Lunch drawing. Those receiving ‘snail’ newsletter mailings will have tickets included. C. Newsletter: 150 are sent by ‘snail’ mail incurring a cost of $.45 each; we only have 70 email addresses at this time. D. Grant: The FoVC board voted to give the library $350 for the Libri Foundation Grant. This grant donates new, quality, hardcover children's books to small, rural public libraries. The Libri Foundation matches money from local sponsors from $50 to $350 on a 2-to-1 ratio. There being no further business, meeting adjourned by President Audrey Broxterman at 8:45 PM; the date for our spring meeting is April 8, 2013 @ 5:30 with a salad lunch followed by the meeting at 6:00 PM. STILL A PRESENCE ; JoAnn Dannels loved Vermillion. She also gave of her time and talent to painting murals along main street. JoAnn was a pioneer ‘mover and shaker’ for establishing the History Rooms above the Library. Much of the museum memorabilia was donated by JoAnn. Her artistic contribution extended to establishing an authentic period ambiance in each room. After her death November 1, 2011, memorial donations were designated for FoVC, Inc. in her memory, These totaled over $450. This money was used to help complete the depot renovations, another of JoAnn’s dreams. This past August the Annual Butterfly Quilt Show and Tea was initiated in JoAnn’s honor. Around fifty of JoAnn’s former friends and family members attended.

Quilt Raffle Drawing May 31st, 2013

The money generated from this beautiful “Double Wedding Ring” machine quilted, patchwork, queen size quilt will go toward selected projects such as the park restroom and a depot ramp. We are seeking railroad memorabilia to displayed and want to set up an area for miniature trains which the children can play with when they tour the building. Raffle tickets may be purchased by mailing your check to FoVC. Inc. Quilt Raffle at 102 Main, Vermillion, KS 66544, and the board will enter your purchased tickets into the drawing. FoVC, Inc. “Restrooms in the Park” Vermillion has been hosting annual an Annual Tractor Pull and a portion of the proceeds are going toward a new Restroom Facility at the park. We’re certain most of you would like to see the new facility accessible when you bring your families home for a visit. For those of you who come to Park activities, you will appreciate and be proud of the ongoing improvements made by the city for the Tractor Pull as well as other functions. Donations can be made to FoVC, Inc. “Restroom Project.”

Memorial Day Lunch Over 100 people attended the luncheon offered by FoVC, Inc. at the Community Church following the Memorial services. Although we were crowded, many stayed to visit and felt the effort worthwhile. The school gym will be used next year (May of 2013) to provide more space. Save the date. See you then!
