Culture ·Impression – 2016 International Youth Design Competition (IYDC) Invitation letter Dear sir and madam Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology (BIFT) will hold “Culture ·Impression – 2016 International Youth Design Competition (IYDC)” at Beijing Institute of Fashion Technology at 10am on 15th October 2016. The IYDC is an essential part of “2016 BIFT ·Science ·Art ·Fashion Festival” opening ceremony. Following the opening, there will be a “Design dialogue” held in the afternoon in providing an interactive communication platform to exchange design ideas and visions in fashion education. The IYDC was initiated and held in the year of 2014 as its first appearance and consolidated in 2015. At its third presence in 2016, the event is reinvented itself to present and promote in a brand new appearance – fashion competition. It is an opportunity to allow professions who come from different backgrounds to interrogate design in relation to academic and industry from a broader point of view. Such perspective would integrate design into daily life, creating a sense of designing embodiment on everyone.

The theme of the competition is “Culture ·Impression”, including:  Fashion show Themed on “Culture, Impression”, youth designers create design works through translating their own traditional art and culture assert in regard to self-aesthetic, integration, and innovation, that the design works have the potential to be commercialized.  Design dialogue Emerging fashion designers who had presented their own collection in the international fashion week are invited to discuss and share the idea of cultural heritage and creativity in terms of cross-cultural with all participations, such as faculties, students, and industries.

The prize of 2016 IYDC    

The winner-1 person: RMB 50,000 (Pre-tax) The second runner – 1 person: RMB 30,000 (Pre-tax) The third runner – 1 person: RMB 20,000 (Pre-tax) Outstanding runner – 5 people: RMB 6,000 (Pre-tax)

BIFT sincerely invites applicants who are currently enrolled undergraduate or postgraduate for “2016 IYDC”

Requirements for submission:  The collection needs to be designed in ready-to-wear style.  Participant needs to submit 4-6 outfits. (Menswear and/or Womenswear)  Participant needs to name each image: “name of your university/affiliation_name of the participant_number of collection 1/2/3/4…”  Each image needs to be less than 1M, in JPEG format.  Submission deadline before 12am 20th August 2016 (GMT +8), the participant needs to send their works to [email protected]. The subject of Email is 2016IYDC_university/affiliation_name of participation_name of collection  The participant will take full responsibility for their design work in case any dispute occurs in terms of religion and plagiarism.  The Committee is NOT responsible for any shipping cost and insurance which participant needs to carry in their own designs for the competition, and pack away afterwards.  BIFT can only afford one participation’s travel expense if the works are designed by a team. BIFT will invite the well-known fashion designers and scholars to be the juries. The selection process will be carried out by BIFT Academic Committee in early September and will notify selected participants via email before 10th September. BIFT reserves the right in selection and categorization. BIFT will afford travel expenses (return flight/Train tickets between initial place and Beijing) and three nights’ accommodation for selected participants.
