LIBRARY NEWS Overdue Library Books Our Library currently has over 140 books and materials that are overdue, at a total cost of over $2000. Please check your home for your student’s library materials. We’d rather buy new books than replace ones that are hiding under the bed at home! If you can’t locate the books or materials, please send in the money for replacing the item, so your student’s account can be cleared, and they can again check out books. Thanks so much for your diligence! Ms. Stender

Our 5th Annual JES Red Clover Night! What: An evening of fun and games to celebrate our current Red Clover Award Nominees! Your child will introduce you to the books, and show you his/her favorite, and there will be fun activities to enjoy! When: Wednesday, May 6th, 6:30 PM – 7:30 PM Who: JES students in grades K through 4th and their parents/guardians About the Red Clover Award: The Red Clover Award is an annual award given for the best picture book of the previous year. The K-4 students of Vermont choose the winner! A committee of librarians reads hundreds of picture books, and then narrows it down to their top ten favorites. The students in grades K-4 are eligible to vote after they have read 5 of these books. Ms. Stender uses these 10 books as a springboard for Library Curriculum.
Students Complete In Reading Challenge! As part of the state of Vermonts’, Reading is an Investment program, elementary school students are challenged to complete a personal reading log that tracks the books they read about money and the time spent reading. This year, more than 5,600 students completed their logs and returned them to the Treasurer's office. Twenty of the students won $250 college savings accounts through a random drawing. Collin Farrell wins for Johnson Elementary. Johnson Elementary also won a large stuffed bear. Go to www.MoneyEd.Vermont.gov for more information and pictures. Congratulations Collin
