Principals Message Dear Joan MacQueen Families, As the new principal of Joan MacQueen Middle School, I welcome you to the start of the 15-16 school year! I am eagerly anticipating a successful and rewarding year, and I look forward to working with the dedicated staff, parents and community to provide an exceptional educational experience for Dust Devil students. For those of you who I have yet to have the pleasure of meeting, please allow me to introduce myself. Prior to joining Alpine Union School District, I worked in the Sweetwater Union High School District for over five years as an instructional coach, and provided oversight for State and Federal Programs. I served as a principal for 5 years in a local charter school. In addition, I taught science for ten years at High Tech High and Parkway Middle School. I recognize the start of middle school can signal feelings of both excitement and trepidation, and I thank you for entrusting your children to the Joan MacQueen staff. We do not take lightly our responsibility in ensuring your children experience a highly-engaging educational experience in a safe and nurturing environment, and we are thrilled to partner with our families as they embark on the next leg in their children’s academic journey. I am excited and honored to join the MacQueen family for what I know will be an amazing school year. Those who know me know that I truly have an open door policy, and I welcome your questions, concerns, and input at any time. Proud to be a Dust Devil, Theresa Meyerott

This is my seventeenth year of teaching. I earned a BA in Economics from UCSD, with a Spanish Literature minor, and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from SDSU. In May 2010, I received an additional MA in Educational Technology from SDSU. I am also a private tutor. Education and learning are my passion. I consider myself a student for life and hope to instill the same love of learning in my students.
6th Grade Teacher Collaboration Meeting The teachers are hard at work during a lunch meeting to coordinate 6th grade activities and curriculum. They were discussing 6th grade camp, MLA formatting for paper submission, state standards. The teachers are dedicated to the success of students at Joan MacQueen.
