the preliminary OSB schedule set up. Be sure you are on that schedule if you signed up to work Operation School Bell in September. If you have never worked OSB, you are missing out on a rewarding and fun time!

PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE IT’S PARTY TIME!!! Bet that got your attention, didn't it? Even though I'll be sending out an email blast between now and the 18th, I wanted to remind you now about the barbecue that will be held at Kathie Marcum's house on July 18th at 1:00. I think it will work out well that most of us will be leaving from our parking lot, which means that we can rideshare to Kathie's house. The Receiving Room will be working as usual and the board will be meeting as usual in the morning. When our work is done, we can all pile into cars together and/or caravan to Kathie's. Remember, we'll put some meat on the grill and you all will bring a side dish or dessert. The June meeting was jam-packed full of information and updates - OSB®, golf tournament, Fashion Preview. We ARE a busy bunch of ladies! We're even starting to sound a little better singing our "anthem." (Of course, we had no way to go but UP after our initial attempt in May!)Dawn, and Wendy have

Mary Kay has been working very hard to make the golf tournament a success. She can't do it by herself, though. Check with Mary Kay to see what is needed and where you can help. Talk to the people with whom you do business to see if they can do any of the following 1.) Form a team (2.) Sponsor a hole (3.) Donate a prize (4.) Advertise their company by giving us a promo item from their business for our giveaway bags. And remember...FASHION PREVIEW UNDERWRITERS SHOULD BE EITHER AVOIDED OR TOLD THAT THE FASHION PREVIEW IS OUR PRIMARY FUNDRAISER. Mary Kay has the list of Fashion Preview underwriters, if you need to check on a company or individual. Brochures are available at the Service Center. And finally...weren't those Parkview nurses great?!?! I hope you all learned a lot about CPR while enjoying their humor and their "Staying Alive" routine! Several of you asked if those ladies were hiding behind the room divider the entire meeting. No! We had it carefully planned that they would arrive a few minutes before 11:30. I had gotten to the Service Center early that morning and propped open the back door so they could sneak in.

That's why I kept peeking through the opening in the room divider - to be sure the plan was intact! We have a lot to look forward to in the coming months. Let's all pitch in, help the causes, and have fun while we're doing it! "You don't stop having fun because you grow old. You grow old because you stop having fun!" President Linda McEwan COMPANY CUP GOLF TOURNAMENT AND ALP FUNDRAISER Golf Teams: Three golf teams registered; there is room for twenty teams. Nine Green or Hole Sponsors (sign advertising), we have room for fifty signs. Anticipating: Six more golf teams to register (Five with firm commitments) Six to ten more sign advertisers that are known - we need even more!! Tournament Door Prizes: Gift Card from King Soopers Nice Plant or advertising from Flowerama Wine bottle ringlets with ALP logos Janis Beck had a great idea of donating our "unused" gift cards that are sitting around collecting dust as door prizes.

Golfer Goodie Bag Promo Items: I am working on obtaining water bottles from Kaiser Permanente and Linda McEwan is working on golf towels from Edward-Jones. Sharon Santry is donating sleeves of golf balls and other miscellaneous golf items. Barb Camerlo will be working with Wendy Rapp to round up other items from local merchants and businesses. ALP Member Message: Ladies, you DO NOT need to know about golf to ask for fundraising support for ALP Operation School Bell. Each of you already is an expert on how OSB impacts our community and what a rush it is for deserving kids to pick out their own brand new school clothes. We make OSB happen through hard working volunteers, dedication and fundraising. And it is done without State, Federal or United Way dollars. That's the story you tell potential businesses/companies when approaching them for assistance in this fundraising effort. Good Luck Ladies, I know we can make happen with a little effort from each of Please call me at 719 557-1201 with questions, concerns, ideas or just to tell that you have landed a new supporter.
