effort to end abortion, the most visible component is the peaceful prayer vigil outside of a local abortion facility. For the Fall Vigil we will pray outside of "A Woman's Choice of Raleigh", 3305 Drake Circle, Raleigh, NC.

GRAND KNIGHT’S REPORT CONTINUED:

Work is progressing for a family day for the council. Plans are under way for a Sunday afternoon Mass followed by a picnic, games and friendly competition. George Grant is heading this up and we have tentatively set Sunday April 21, 2013 as the date. More to follow but George needs some volunteers to help in the planning and organization.

payback is enhanced knowledge and a stronger faith. Christmas is getting close, only about 15 more weeks. We need to start thinking about our Christmas card sales and get an early start on that. Before we know it Thanksgiving will be here and then it will be too late to get a jump on early sales.

As for organizing a lady’s auxiliary, I have been sending inquiries to the state and I have yet to get a response from them. We do have several women who have agreed to help organize a chapter once we find out what it takes. I am hopeful that we will eventually see some progress in this area.

Thank you all for you continued support of the Knights. Please keep in mind that we are always looking for Catholic men to join our organization and become active in our charitable and community activities. If you know a Catholic Gentleman who is not a member, ask him to join. To borrow a well know phrase, we are looking for a “Few Good Moving on to current business... Look for bible studies and take advantage participating in them. Learn more about your faith and meet new people in your parish who share your beliefs. I have been doing the Catholic Scripture Study at St. Michael’s for the last 4 years and I continue to learn more and more about Catholicism and I have a much better understanding of the bible and how the Old Testament points to salvation through Christ. Special Olympics Help

Our Veterans Day Luncheon will be held on November 11th at 1:00 pm at St Andrew’s Fellowship Hall. Guest speaker will be USAF Lt Col Greg McCleary. A roast pork dinner will be served with drinks and desert. Cost is $10 per person.

The “Color Me Rad” 5K is really unique event where runners start out with a plain white t-shirt, get covered in colored cornstarch (thrown on them by volunteers) at each kilometer, and end up with a very colorful t-shirt (and body) at the end of the race. How would you like to join the bomb squad?

Our Christmas Party will be on December 8th, at 7:00 pm at St Andrew’s Fellowship Hall. There will be a dinner served by Catering By Design. Dinner will include appetizers, desert, wine and drinks. We will have door prizes, raffles and a 50/50 contest. Cost will be $20 per person.

This is a new event for the local Special Olympics and they need several volunteers. It will be a “messy” but fun and satisfying event--and will all wash off. Need help in the morning 8 am - 1 pm.

"While the Church exhorts civil authorities to seek peace, not war, and to exercise discretion and mercy in imposing punishment on criminals, it may still be permissible to take up arms to repel an aggressor or to have recourse to capital punishment. There may be a legitimate diversity of opinion even among Catholics about waging war and applying the death penalty, but not however with regard to abortion and euthanasia." -- Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (before he was Pope Benedict XVI)
