Charity – Unity – Fraternity – Patriotism Live your Faith!
My Brother Knights, I hope you are all enjoying the busy spring season with your families as we celebrate first communions, confirmations and graduations. We did our own celebrating this month as we held our ―Old Timers Night‖ on Tuesday May 17th. Approximately 50 brothers and family attended as we recognized 25 and 50 year members. We were also blessed to have 19 Past Grand Knights in attendance at the event (dating as far back as 1970!). It really was a wonderful opportunity to share stories and appreciate our council‘s past. Many thanks to Camille for the great Italian meal and also Ernie Arsenault for reaching out to all our Past Grand Knights. Our first guiding principal is charity and on June 3rd and 4th we will have our charity drive. This drive is focused on collecting money for the Reading Food Pantry and also the money needed to support the many organizations that request our help. I would especially like to see many of our new brother knights donate an hour or two of their time this year. This is a great way to get involved in our council and help contribute to our community. This is really what it‘s all about – I look forward to your support! In Christ, Tom Cappuccio, Grand Knight

A GOOD KNIGHT THOUGHT_ _________________________________________________________________ BY THE WAY, WHAT IS YOUR EXCUSE?
A little boy returned home from his first day of school and the teacher had asked that the children each to bring copies of their birth certificates so that the school could update their records. "Certificate" was a big word for the little guy to deal with so he told his Mom: “tomorrow I have to take my excuse for being born to school." Isn't that an interesting way to put it—an excuse for living. Everyone should have one. What's your excuse? Unless we have a purpose in life, we miss the challenge and joy of living and worse, instead of reaching for the highest goals in life we could spend our entire lives aiming at nothing and hit only that. Having just finished celebrating the Easter season we know that God had a purpose for sending His Son Jesus to this world. His reason for being born was so that He could be our Savior. He died on the cross to accomplish that for you and for me. Blessed are those who have Jesus as their excuse for being born—as their reason for living. ________________________________________________________________DEACON NEIL
