Charity – Unity – Fraternity – Patriotism Live your Faith!

My Brother Knights, I am excited to have the opportunity to serve as Deputy Grand Knight. I have enjoyed getting to know some of you at the many events sponsored by our council over the past year. I was born and raised in Westerly, Rhode Island and learned the value of charity, caring and community from my dad. I graduated from Bryant College in 1984 and married my lovely bride Jeanne in 1989. We have 2 children Mia, 17 and Mateo, 11 both adopted from Ecuador. Mia is a Junior at Riverview School. It is a wonderful school for children with special needs located in East Sandwich. Mateo is a 6th grader at Parker Middle School and plays several sports. Jeanne is a Special Education teacher at North Reading Middle School and has been a CCD teacher for several years at St. Agnes. I am the Director of Food and Nutrition Services at Spaulding Hospital Cambridge (formerly Youville Hospital). One of the things I have enjoyed most about being a Knight is having the chance to listen and learn to many brothers who are excellent role models of spirituality and generosity. Tom Cappuccio

Deputy Grand Knight

Sick and Vigil: Remember to keep PGK Tim Knowles and Jim Knowles in your prayers there are both recuperating from recent injuries. Brother Dr. Ed Doherty is at home recuperating from heart surgery he had at Lahey Clinic. Grand Knight Lenny Ebert had heart surgery to repair a valve. He is recovering at home. Brother Mil Dixon is in Lahey Hospital. He recently suffered a number of strokes before they were able to stabilize him. He is not able to have visitors at this time. If you know of any brother or family member in need of prayers or assistance, communicate these needs to Ernie Arsenault for inclusion in the newsletter. [email protected].

A GOOD KNIGHT THOUGHT! By the time this is published, the hustle and bustle of summer will be over and we'll be preparing for cold weather. Perhaps this is a time of more peace and quiet for us all—at least until the holidays arrive—which can be a good thing you know, for we live in such noisy, busy times. So noisy in fact, that we have trained ourselves to tune out familiar—and seemingly unnecessary—sounds in our lives just to allow us a time to think, and think clearly! But we have to take care that we don't tune out sounds we should be hearing—make certain we are not tuning out the voice of God, speaking to us through scripture, our conscience, and through the loving people surrounding us. We rightly speak to God when we worship in prayer and praise and thanksgiving, but we must give Him a chance to speak to us too—words which we hear most clearly when we are enjoying hushed, peaceful, moments (and consciously placing ourselves in his presence). This quiet autumn season of the year lends itself to just those types of visits with our Lord—perhaps even at the evenings of adoration offered in our parishes. DEACON NEIL
