Dear Mr Patokallio Fare comparison calculator published at opalornot.com I understand that you are the creator of the website at opalornot.com and developed the fare comparison calculator published on that website. As you know, Transport for NSW (TtNSW) is responsible for the introduction of the Opal card on behalf of the NSW Government. The progressive implementation across the public transport network of the Opal card will benefit many transport customers. It is important to us that customers have accurate fare information. While TfNSW appreciates your interest in the Opal card, we are concerned that the fare calculator published on your website does not accurately calculate or compare Opal fares for customers. We trust you will agree that it is important your site does not mislead customers into paying more than they need to for their public transport. In the past, TfNSW has worked positively with the development and creative digital community in developing real time information available for customers using public transport. TfNSW would be willing to meet with you if you are interested in discussing how we could help you to improve the accuracy of the information you publish. Your use of the Opal logo on the website in connection with the fare calculator is not however authorized. That use infringes the registered trade mark and may compound the extent to which customers are misled. TfNSW accordingly requests that you remove the Opal trade mark from the website without delay.
