SERVICE OBJECTIVE—Trustee Central Carolina Community College To support the development of Central Carolina Community College as the leading force for educational opportunities, economic progress, and cultural enrichment in the communities it serves. Providing thought leadership for private sector competitive challenges and for short and long term public policy issues including human resources, deployment of informational resources, workforce preparedness, and techniques of monitoring and evaluating programs for effectiveness.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND Resource Development::Applied marketing principles and developed personal relationships to meet funding requirements. Increased revenues, secured private investments, and obtained partners to meet private sector requirements. Demonstrated success in competing for public funds, applying new funds to targeted priorities, and arranging contributions for public sector requirements. Community Relations: Represented senior public and private officials at conferences, before oversight bodies, and in private and public negotiating sessions. SELECTED ACHIEVEMENTS DEVELOPED a consulting practice through leveraging contacts as a network for engagements with senior executives ranging from such international market leaders as Siemens, IBM Global Services, Xerox to owners of small businesses. CREATED coalitions with government officials, business leaders, technology vendors, and non-profit organizations to secure legislative action and policy changes reorganizing IT governance and creating a focal point for capitalizing on the growth of the Internet. AUTHORED The Community Engagement Handbook, a resource supporting county e-champions in establishing, organizing, planning, and securing funding for county-level e-communities initiatives for access to broadband, ebusiness, e-education, and e-agriculture and an e-Business handbook, Using Technology to Build Successful Business Communities, to aid small business owners with limited technical knowledge to use the Internet to improve competitiveness. RAISED over $4,000,000 in operational funding and secured more than $7,500,000 for facility financing to pioneer the multi-store, multi-market development concept adopted by Jiffy Lube International to seize market leadership and support its initial IPO. INITIATED new business processes and organizational structure for intergovernmental relations in NC, supervised all Congressional lobbying and Federal relations for the State of North Carolina, opened the NC Washington Office, and implemented a program that increased state receipts by $481,000,000 (current dollars) within the first 18 months. DELIVERED presentations at national conventions; governmental bodies at all levels, briefings to statewide media, conducted seminars, facilitated meetings, planned conferences, and prepared speeches and presentations for delivery by corporate executives and government officials. PLANNED Workforce Preparedness and the Technology and Knowledge Infrastructure recommendations through Governor’s Board of Science and Technology Vision 2030 Project. CREATED marketable intellectual capital including: (1) Strategic Alliance Roadmap™ identifies requirements, processes, and competencies for sustainable alliances. (2) Success Assurance™ integrates business strategy, IT resources, and organizational capability to achieve anticipated outcomes from IT investments. (3) The TransactionKnowledge Model™ demonstrates how e-business potentially redefines value for customers.
APPRAISED 32 active IT projects within less than 60 days to determine project risks, legal exposure, risk to business relationship, and reportable contingency losses for IT services division of a Fortune 100 company. NEGOTIATED and closed numerous acquisitions and divestitures in both industrial and retail industries with parties ranging from sole proprietors to Fortune 500 companies.
