February 1, 2017 Dear Friend/Supporter, Loma Prieta Volunteer Fire & Rescue (LPVFR) has been proud to serve the Santa Cruz Mountains, and beyond, since it was founded in 1962. These dedicated volunteers are often the first on the scene for structure fires, car accidents and medical emergencies. This quick response saves lives and minimizes losses. LPVFR provides a critical service to the community, as well as to visitors, tourists and travelers visiting the area or just passing through on Highway 17. We could not do this without the support of the community and companies or organizations such as yours. The funding allocated to LPVFR from property taxes does not cover our expenses. We rely on our annual fundraiser, The Firefighters’ Barbecue, to provide much needed funds for specialized training and equipment such as defibrillators, radios and breathing apparatus that need to be replaced. The Firefighters’ Barbecue will take place on June 4​th at the Loma Prieta Gazebo, 23845 Summit Road, Los Gatos. About 1,000 members of the community attend our barbecue which includes a delicious meal, rescue demonstrations and fun games for the kids. The event also includes a silent auction and a raffle. We would like to invite you to take part in our continuing efforts to respond to emergencies by financially supporting LPVFR or donating an item for our auction. All donations will be publicly acknowledged and you will receive a formal letter and receipt to thank you for your tax-deductible donation.
