Afternoon Course: Growing and Using Herbs (12:30-3:30 pm) INFUSED OILS and OINTMENTS - Calendula infused oil and ointment, chest rub, comfrey ointment (AH) GROWING HERBS - Medicinal and culinary - What to grow, Where to get them, Where to plant them (AH) HERBS AT OUR FEET - Dandelion, Dock, Plantain, Yarrow, Red clover, Couch grass, Self- heal, Shepherds purse, Horsetail, teas poultices and more (AH) SPRING TONICS: - Nettles, cleavers - Cleavers tea, nettle soup, chickweed ointment or cream (AH) SPRING FLOWERS, LEAVES and BARKS: - Hawthorn leaves and flowers, Limeflowers, Birch. Harvesting Cramp bark and Willow bark (AH) MIDSUMMER FLOWERS: - Elderflower cordial, Rose aromatic water using alembic still (AH) MORE FLOWERS - Lavender, Chamomile, Calendula, Meadowsweet, Mullein, St Johns Wort, (AH) SEEDS Milk thistle seed, Nettle seed, Fennel seed, Aromatic herbs - Rosemary, Thyme, Sage - Herbal vinegars and honeys (AH) BERRIES AND SYRUPS - Elderberry syrup, Thyme and Liquorice syrup, Hawthorn berries added to tinctures (AH) ROOTS: Burdock, Dandelion, Elecampane, Echinacea. Course fee: £20/session for either course including home-made lunch using organically grown produce from Marlpit Community Garden. Special rate £35 for attending both the morning and afternoon session on the same day. A 10% discount for SLI members and for booking more than one session in advance.
