WEEK AT A GLANCE May 22 - 26, 2017
MONDAY May 22, is Victoria Day and there is no school for students! We wish all our James W. Hill Families a safe and happy May long weekend. See you on Tuesday! WEAR YOUR PINK SHIRT! Retake photo day, for our school wide pink shirt day, will take place on Tuesday, May 23. Remember to wear your pink shirts! We would love to see a sea of pink to support anti-bullying everywhere! An order form for the Annie musical’s Matinée and Evening performances was sent home by e-mail on Wednesday of this week. There is a small fee for the tickets of $5 to offset the cost of the production. The Matinée will take place on Tuesday, June 6 at 11:15 am (Period 3), and the second will be an evening performance on Wednesday, June 7 at 6:30 pm. Tickets will be numbered and assigned on a first come, first served basis. Parents who wish to come to the Matinée are reminded that space is limited since this is a school wide performance and there will be minimal seating at the back of the gym. The order form is currently available on cashless.
Here is the schedule for the upcoming EQAO testing for our grades 3 and 6 students:
* Grade 6 - May 24, 25 & 26 * Grade 3 - May 29, 30 & 31
We ask parents to please NOT schedule appointments or vacation days during the testing period. Thank you!
Saturday May 27, 10 am until 2 pm, RAIN OR SHINE - plan on attending the Spring Fair! Please make sure you go on
Cashless to purchase tickets or Play All Day wristbands early! Brochures have already been sent home outlining all of the activities taking place that day. We are still accepting toonie tubs - you can use your imagination and fill the tubs to the brim with novelty items and treats that kids (and parents) can purchase at the fair for just a toonie ( 2 tickets ). See you there!
Please join us on Friday, June 16 for our annual Volunteer Tea. It takes place between 10:30 am and 11:30 am in the Library. This is our opportunity to offer a big shout out to all the amazing volunteers who work tirelessly to make James W. Hill the best it can be. We hope you can join us! Please RSVP by June 9th to Pam Stephens at
[email protected]. We look forward to seeing you all here on June 16th! CHANGE IN LUNCH DROP OFF PROCEDURES!
If you are dropping off your child’s lunch, please leave it in the blue bins, under the whiteboard in the front hall outside the office. Please write their name on it, using the labels and pencils provided. We will no longer be calling students down for their lunches. However, for the first week or so of this new procedure, we will provide instructions to students on how this works during the morning announcements. May we suggest that if you are planning on dropping off you child’s lunch during the day, you remind them of the new procedure. Thank you for your assistance!
