Improvements to the OPI Website! 1) You may have noticed a new page on the OPI website - the Teaching & Assessment page (http://opi.mt.gov/Curriculum/Index.html). Formerly 'Curriculum & Instruction,' this new page has three categories to bring OPI's teaching and learning support into one place for Montana educators: • Professional Learning Tools - featuring links to the Hub, Learning Opportunities Portal, and more • Montana's Academic Standards - including a link to info about Montana's process for revising academic standards • Professional Learning Resources - sharing support for IEFA, Early Childhood, Special Education, and more 2) Beginning on April 29th, the calendar button at the top of OPI website will direct you to a list of three calendars that house events and deadlines for Montana schools: • the Learning Opportunities Portal contains information about trainings and conferences; • the Collections, Deadlines, Notices, and Data Verification Calendar (located in GEMS) allows users to find everything required by the OPI in a given time period; and • the State eCalendar lists OPI meetings that fit public notice requirements. The OPI hopes this change will make it easier for users in the field to locate the type of events they find most useful.

• April’s School Library Month has been rich with celebrations and recognition of the vital role teacherlibrarians and school libraries play in the social and academic success of students. Check out my Twitter feed (@cbartow) for some of the great resources and ideas. At the recent Montana Library Association Conference, Lisa Lykins and Kerrie More accepted the School Library Program of the Year Award for Glacier High School in Kalispell. Governor Bullock also recognized April as “School Library Month” in Montana in a letter to the Montana Library Association. The 2015-16 Digital Blast series continues on May 10 with “BFFs for Learning!” Christy and I will share a quick version of this presentation that highlights collaboration and resources. Find the link to this upcoming live session and links to recordings from previous sessions at the Montana Teacher Librarian site.
