Richards on ‘Property Rights in Gorakhpur’ at a Conference on ‘Landed Property Rights and Global Environmental Change’ at Stowe, Vermont, USA in August 1994. Again as a part of this project, participated in the second meeting of the project in May 1995 at D uke University, Durham, North Carolina, USA and presented a paper jointly with Prof. John F. Richards entitled ‘Property Rights and Economic Growth in Colonial Gorakhpur’ at the First Open Meeting of ‘Human Dimensions of Global Environmental Change Communi ty’ at Duke University, Durham, USA, in June 1995. Again as a part of this project, participated in a workshop on ‘Property Rights in Land and Sustainable Development in Mountain Societies’ at Kathmandu, Nepal, in July 1997. The proceedings of this proje ct have been published in a volume edited by John F. Richards entitled Land, Property and the Environment by ICS Press, Oakland, California, 2002. 3.
