BOARD OF SCHOOL DIRECTORS STOWE, VT March 30, 2015
Cam Page called the special meeting to order at 6:00pm with Richard Bland, Emily Bradbury, Jim Brochhausen, and Susan Segal present. Tracy Wrend, Superintendent, and Valerie Sullivan, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, represented the administration. Guests include Brad James, Lisa McCormick, Joseph McLaughlin, Cindy Jackman, Kirsten Cardenas, Victoria Colyer and Drew Clymer. Tracy requested an amendment to the agenda to ratify any business and votes of the March 16th and 23rd meeting. In an effort to be transparent, the administration acknowledges minutes for the March 16th meeting were not posted within five days and notice of the March 23rd meeting was not sent to the Stowe Reporter. Richard Bland made a motion, which was seconded by Susan Segal to add the item to the agenda. Motion was carried Richard Bland moved and Jim Brochhausen seconded to ratify the actions and votes of March 16 and March 23 as if all actions and notifications had occurred as required. Motion was carried Cam briefly reviewed the discussion of the March 23rd special meeting and the purpose of this special meeting to continue discussions and agree upon the response the Stowe School District Board of Directors will make. Tracy distributed to board members and guests the draft communications from the Stowe School District Board of Directors in response to H.361 and historical Enrollment, ADM, and Equalized Pupil data provided by Brad James. The board discussed the content, clarity of the message, and style and tone of the Resolutions Regarding H.361, and accompanying letter of opposition to Senators, Legislators, and others, and an Op Ed letter. Collectively and collaboratively, the members of the board agreed upon edits to each document. Richard Bland moved and Susan Segal seconded that the Stowe School District Board of Directors approve the Resolutions to H.361, the accompanying letter of opposition to Senators, Legislators, and others, and the Op Ed letter as revised. Motion was carried The board went into executive session to discuss a personnel issue, because doing so in open session would place the district at a substantial disadvantage, based on a motion by Susan Segal and seconded by Jim Brochhausen. The board came out of executive session. With no further action to come before the board, it was agreed to adjourn at 8:15pm based on a motion by Susan Segal and seconded by Jim Brochhausen. Motion was carried
