TEAM SELECTION Placement of athletes on specific squads(levels of play) will be determined by the coaching staff regarding the physical and mental readiness of players for certain levels. We look at each individual as a high school athlete. The grade they are in does not determine which squad they will play on. Main focus is placed on the entire program this year and into the future. In the event that a reduction of squad size is necessary to due large numbers or budget reductions by the district, those cuts will be one following the ISD 129 Athletic Department Policy Book.

TRAINING ROOM There is a training room fully equipped with ice and all types of training supplies located in the back of the physical education storage room. Please keep the training room clean by cleaning up after you use it. If there are supplies that are low or missing – inform a coach. 9. Remember to use common sense and do what is best for you and the entire team. The following guidelines are recommended to ensure peak performance. 10:00 pm – Weeknights and Sundays Midnight – Weekends 9:30 pm – Night Before a Game After away games, be home no later than one hour after the bus returns. 16. POST-SEASON AWARDS PRESENTATION Each year, awards will be given out at an end of the season awards presentation. All varsity, JV, B-squad, and C-squad Athletes and managers will be invited to attend this presentation. 17. GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE In any athletic program, no matter how well organized and no matter how well meaning the intentions of the staff and administration, problems can still arise. In many cases these problems are simply due to poor communications. In other situations, the problem may be more serious. For these reasons, it is necessary to have a well defined chain of command. This chain of command must be followed to ensure that the proper connections can be made and problems can be taken care of as efficiently and quickly as possible. The chain of command is a follows: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5.

Athlete meets with the coach directly. Athlete meets with the coach and head coach (if a lower level athlete). Athlete and parents meet with the coaching staff. Athlete, parents, coaching staff meet with the Athletic Director. Athlete, parents, coaching staff, A.D., principal will meet with the superintendent

In case of any problems, callers should be referred to the first person in the chain of command for satisfaction and then proceed from there. It is essential that the people working directly with the student be informed of the problem as soon as possible so that corrections can be made. This must be done by direct contact in person or by the telephone. Use the 24 hour rule(wait until the next day before making any contact) to take the emotion out of the situation, ensuring that all comments have been well thought out.
