VESTAVIA HILLS ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT EJECTION POLICY The Alabama High School Athletics Association (AHSAA) has implemented the following policy with regards to ejections: AHSAA Conduct Rule Coaches and players that are ejected from contests in all sports will receive the following penalties: First Ejection: Minimum $300 fine. (The fine can be reduced one time to $100 if the person fined completes the STAR Behavioral Mode within 10 days of the date of the ejection.) Second Ejection: Minimum one-game suspension and $500 fine Third Ejection: Minimum suspension for the remainder of the season and $750 fine NOTE: If an ejection occurs during the final contest of the season, a monetary fine will be placed on the school according to its severity and what number of ejection it is. The penalty, for any student-athletes leaving the bench area during a sports contest to engage in unsportsmanlike activities on the field or court, will include a fine as well as a suspension equal to 20 percent of that sport’s regular season contests. According to Vestavia Hill Athletic Department policy, fines and ejections will be handled in following way: First Ejection- The athlete or coach who has been ejected will be required to reimburse the school the amount of the fine assessed. The AHSAA allows the athlete the option of taking the STAR Behavioral Mode within 10 days of the ejection. By taking the course the AHSAA will reduce the fine to $100. If the athlete chooses to take the course, Vestavia Hills Athletics will pay $50 and the athlete will pay $50 to cover the $100 fine. Second Ejection- The athlete or coach who has been ejected will be required to reimburse the school the amount of the fine assessed. Additionally, the athlete or coach will be suspended for one game per AHSAA policy. Third Ejection- The athlete or coach who has been ejected will be required to reimburse the school the amount of the fine assessed. Additionally, the athlete or coach will be suspended for the remainder of the season per AHSAA policy. The offending coach or athlete must make arrangements for reimbursement within 30 days of the offense. Failure to comply may result in suspension from participation on any VHHS athletic team. _____________________________ Date _____________________________ Mother’s Signature
