We are excited about our first Management Department Newsletter to help let our students know what is going on in the department. We want to be available to you and hope you will contact us if we can help with anything. We promise to make these newsletters concise and worthy of your time to read. Be looking for upcoming exci ng news and informa on in future issues which should be sent five to seven  mes a year.   

Staffing News

Management Staffing News: Professor Donny Hurwitz ([email protected]; 512‐223‐3708) is Department Chair of Management. He swapped roles with former Department Chair Professor Frank Reid ([email protected]; 512‐223‐3267) who is now Assistant Department Chair. We are excited to have Mary Rincon ([email protected]; 512‐223‐3710) is the new assistant to the Man‐ agement Department. Mary is the go‐to person for questions and to ask for help. She will fix what she can and assist in finding the solutions for things she can’t immediately fix. Welcome to Associate Professor Vicky Valdez ([email protected]; 512‐971‐6318) and Associate Professor George Frederickson ([email protected]; 512‐223‐4052) our new full‐time faculty members. They join Professor Steven Bradley the longest serving member of our department who serves as Assistant, Depart‐ ment Chair.

Retail Management Certificate Program

Internship Program

RETAIL MANAGEMENT CERTIFICATE PROGRAM Austin Community College is pleased to announce a Retail Management Certificate Program beginning in February, 2017. ACC has received a grant that could pay tuition for the first nine credit hours (3 classes) of a twenty‐four hour (8 classes) Retail Management Certificate. Contact us for more details about the grant. Members of the retail and service industry are invited to apply for this opportunity. The certificate may be completed within 2 years. All classes are taught by instructors with industry experience. Each employee/student who completes the Retail Management Certificate will gain the education and experience necessary to take on a leadership role in retail organizations. Internship Program Under the leadership of Vicky Valdez, the Management Department has revamped our Internship Program. We are excited to collaborate with Samuel Greer, the Director of the Center for Experiential Learning to iden‐ tify employers who will offer internships. Interns will earn course credit and our goal is to find paid internships, for 16, 12, or 8 week classes for Fall and Spring and 6 or 11 week classes for the Summer.
