Pastor Job Description Objective: To lead the congregation through the transition from its beginning, to its present and future call to ministry, as an outreach oriented, theologically Reformed church in Caledonia, MI Responsibilities: o o o o o o o
Vision Developer and Enhancer- listens, identifies, clarifies and refines the vision of the church, building on the past and moving into the future Team Builder- mobilizes the group from being focused on a planter to being focused on the mission of the church Community Relationship Builder- develops a broader based, shared support for the young church in the local community and denomination Leadership Development Facilitator- fosters a discipleship model of developing reproducible leadership structures. Identifies and cultivates individuals to fill various roles and trains others to do the same Pastoral Care Provider- responding to the felt needs, moving the congregation from individual pastoral care, to a model of congregational care for itself and the local community Steward of Conflict- guides the congregation through the inevitable conflict that arises during a transitional period of new leadership emerging Resource Manager- coordinates a growing availability of resources: human, financial, networks and tools for ministry

Belief in the mission of New Ground Church (see church profile) Leader who possesses the pastoral spiritual gifts of teaching (1 Cor. 12:28, Eph. 4:11), leading (Rom. 12:8), and encouragement (Rom. 12:8) Leads the congregation in the spirit of servant leadership (Mark 10:42-45) Personal and expressed views consistent with Reformed Church in America theology Possesses the required combination of character, education and experience to be ordained as a minister within the Reformed Church in America Commitment to prayer Experience in ministry leadership Leader with an entrepreneurial spirit Willingness to live within or near Caledonia and actively engage in the community Prior ministry leadership experience in a healthy church Preferred prior experience in church planting

This is a full time salaried (target 40hrs per week) pastoral position, reporting to the New Ground Governing Team Collaborate with key lay leaders to develop and implement an intentional approach to leadership development which places mission and discipleship into the hands of the people of God and increases the leadership capacity of the congregation in a measurable way Dedicate 5 hours per week to developing relationships in the community through time spent outside the office or in intentional pursuit of community connections Ensure that all NGC curriculum and teaching is aligned with sound Biblical orthodoxy based on Reformed theology Plan and oversee Sunday teaching schedule for the entire year, coordinating and vetting guest teachers as needed and/or appropriate Preach on Sunday mornings at least 42 Sundays per year Lead the staff team through weekly and other appropriate meetings Lead the Governing Team through monthly and other appropriate meetings
