Organisation Established in 1990, North Peak is a supplier of promotional products. It is headquartered in the Neihu district of Taipei, Taiwan and has two overseas offices based in Shanghai and Shenzhen. The company currently employs more than 70 employees. North Peak utilises email marketing as a strategy to grow its client base and depends heavily on the use of emails to boost sales and revenue. Challenge The on-premise email server that North Peak was using continuously suffered from email delivery issues. During one of its email marketing campaigns, the business experienced a delivery failure rate of 50%. This meant that half of its emails were unable to be delivered to targeted customers, resulting in a loss of potential business. These inefficiencies prompted North Peak to begin the search for alternative solutions that could address the email delivery issue that it was facing. Solution North Peak was introduced to Google Apps in 2009 and decided to sign up for a free trial. After quickly seeing the noticeable benefits in a short period of time, they switched to the paid version within two months, signing up all employees for a Google Apps account. Compared to their previous solution, Gmail is far easier to manage for a business of their size. With the implementation of Gmail, North Peak saves time on maintenance and managing costs. They also uses Google Analytics to analyse the sources of their website traffic in order to integrate sales strategies accordingly. Mr Colvin Lee, Information Specialist at North Peak, explained: “The reason that we have chosen Google is because it provides a wide range of services beyond what we were looking for at that time, which was a reliable email server. We have plans to start using the other Google Apps features such as Google Drive and Google Docs next year.”
