Available to Rural U High School Seniors! NUR 200 Introduction to Professional Nursing is a 2 credit, online course. The course introduces students to the concept of professional nursing while offering the opportunity to practice professional nursing skills and participate in professional nursing activities. Tuition is free. Students and their families are responsible for the cost of fees and textbooks. Classes start 1/22/2018! Eligibility: Students must have a 3.0 GPA or better. This course a includes an in-hospital component; students will be required to complete all necessary immunizations and provide documentation to UMFK. Students who enroll in NUR 200 through Rural U Nursing should be prepared academically and should be ready for the rigors of online learning. Some things students should consider before enrolling: 1. Students will need to be dedicated and willing to put in the necessary time and commitment for this course. 2. Students will be expected to express themselves and fully engage with their classmates and instructor. 3. Students must be able to seek help when struggling. 4. Students are expected to be self-motivated, able to work independently, complete assignments and meet deadlines, and manage their time well. 5. Students must have access to a computer and a reliable internet connection. Students should also be comfortable using online technologies to read, write, watch, and listen as they learn.

Students must be registered by December 15, 2017, with all other course related materials submitted prior to the start of classes. Any student that passes this course with a C+ or better, and who meets the minimum GPA requirement will be accepted into UMFK’s Nursing Program.
