REPORT ON SPECIAL CAMP (26/03/2014-01/04/2014) ADOPTED VILLAGE: MUTHUPILLAIPALAYAM THEME: Preserve Environment for Healthy Future DAY – 1 : On the first day, 26th March 2014(Wednesday), Christ College of Engineering and Technology NSS Volunteers started their special camping at Muthupillaipalayam with the theme “Preserve Environment for Healthy Future”. The Inaugural function held at Muthupillaipalayam drama stage. Dr.A.Ravichandran, Principal, CCET inaugurated the special camp function and State Liaison Officer Dr. P. Kolandasamy. The volunteers were spitted into groups and invited the villagers by giving pamphlets to attend Eye Screening Camp sponsored by vasan eye care till 4.30pm.

Volunteers are eagerly participated in the Eye Screening Camp sponsored by vasan eye care at the Muthupillaipalayam village temple. Around 200 people were gained in this eye screening camp. Later, Volunteers were divided into groups for carrying out various special camping activities.

DAY – 2 : On the second day, 27th March 2014(Thursday)/F.N: Volunteers invited the village people to participate in Dental Screening camp in Muthupillaipalayam village temple between 10.00am to 4.00pm. In this the people were easily monitor their tooth conditions. After that the doctor had given counseling about their tooth decay and tooth problems.

Volunteers are eagerly participated in the Dental Screening Camp sponsored by vasan dental care at the Muthupillaipalayam village temple. Around 150 people were gained in this eye screening camp At evening, volunteers had a seminar about dental care and maintenance. DAY – 3 : On the third day, 28th March 2014(Friday)/F.N: Volunteers discussed with village presidents to locate the places for planting the trees and started taking pits for plantation. About 30 pits they made near to temple and in the streets of Ayannar temple arranged for planting the different types of saplings.

Later - As a part of Environmental camp volunteers participated in a seminar regarding Rain water harvest demonstration were given. In this the importance of water level in the earth were demonstrated by useful videos and photo shoots.

DAY – 4 : On the fourth day, 29th March 2014(Saturday)/F.N: Our NSS unit in tie-up with Election Department organized a model polling station by bring the model mobile polling station to the college as well as the adopted village. Many village people were benefited by watching the model.

After the lunch, our volunteers prepared fencing for the trees to be planted on the next day. About 30 fencing were the made, measuring 4 feet height with 6 mm rod and small banner for college and NSS unit name. Later, the volunteers had a seminar to maintain the garbage’s properly and instructions were given to separate bio-degradable and non- biodegradable garbage’s for the better future. Also the volunteers were given a show on cause of pollution on see due to excessive use of pet bottles.

DAY – 5 : On the fifth day, 30th March 2014(Sunday)/F.N: Volunteers are assembled in the temple and took the tree saplings along with the fencings. The tree plantation was inaugurated by the village presidents with guidance of our principal Dr. A. Ravichandran and State Liaison Officer, Dr. P.Kolandasamy. Then the principal and SLO planted near the temple and near to the public tap locations respectively. About 50 trees were planted in 30 trees were fenced properly.

Afternoon, Volunteers talked to the village people to maintain the trees in good manner and asked for the further locations for planting the trees.

DAY – 6 : On the sixth day, 31th March 2014(Monday)/F.N: Volunteers are made a visit the Auroville forest department “Aranya Forest” their Mr. Saravanan and Mrs. Kundavi were given explanation about the forest and need for the forest for bright future.

After the lunch the volunteer visited the Auroville Globe there volunteers had information about spiritual life necessity. During this visit, the history of Puducherry and the construction of Auroville globe were explained by a short seminar. Later in the evening, our volunteers had awareness on safe use of pet bottle and instructed to reuse the bottles for economic and also for the cause of not to pollute the environment in the beach near Gandhi statue organized by “amrutra” waters, Auroville

DAY – 7 : On the final day, 01st April 2014(Tuesday)/F.N: Volunteers poured water to the trees planted conducted a cultural programme regarding youth development and village progress methods. Afternoon, the special camping was valedicted by Dr.A.Ravichandran, Principal, CCET. Village president was presiding over the function.
