VOLLEYBALL BASIC RULES The Serve ~Server must serve from behind the end line until after contact ~ Ball may be served underhand or overhand ~ A served ball may graze the net and drop to the other side ~ You may not attack or spike the serve. Scoring ~ Rally scoring (a point is made at every end of play) Rotation  Players will rotate clockwise every time they win the serve  Maximum of three hits per side  A player may not hit the ball twice in succession (a block is not considered a hit)  The ball may be played off the net during a volley and serve  A ball touching a boundary line is good  A player may contact the ball using any body part. Basic Violations  Stepping on or over the line on a serve  Failure to serve the ball over the net successfully  Hitting the ball illegally (Carrying, Throwing, etc.)  Intentionally touching the net with any part of the body  Reaching over the net  Stepping / Reaching under the net  Failure to serve in the correct order
