Hello Everyone. It's Book Fair time again. We will be having a preview day this Monday, November 7th, for the students and teachers to complete their wish lists. The following Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30-4:00 will be open to students and families to make their purchases and get lost in some good books. Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers that are helping to bring this opportunity back to our PRES community. If you would like to volunteer a few hours next week, please contact Beth at 773-5338 or Jenny at (413)210-4359.

Principal’s Office Dear PRES Families, I want to remind everyone that we are encouraging students to keep sticks, rocks and other large objects off of the playground and the basketball courts. These objects are beginning to find their way back into the play spaces after school, and are causing challenges at recess. We also would greatly appreciate families reviewing with the children that under the stairs, behind the shed and beyond the fences are out of bounds during recess time. Students are working hard to demonstrate "Pawesome" behavior, and are continuing to earn paw coins for it. We are looking forward to the next time a classroom fills those coin jars! You may hear students talking about the five second rule. Here at PRES, we are using that term when students need to line up quickly to go inside. Sometimes, we get visitors like skunks on our playground, and need to get indoors. A teacher will yell, "Five Second Rule" and students have rehearsed where they go. We will continue to practice this occasionally over the next few weeks. We are thankful to get to spend this November with all of the smiling faces at PRES! Best, Deanna
Health News Continue to say “BOO” to the Flu! The Centers for Disease Control advise everyone 6 months of age and older to get a flu shot during the months of October and November. Discuss with your physician whether it is appropriate to get a flu shot. Some good health guidelines to prevent and fight the effects of cold and flu include:
A healthy breakfast - Your school performance is directly related to what you eat! Drink plenty of water - Water is the best fluid to stay hydrated, without added sugars. Don’t forget to wash your hands often. Eat a nutritious lunch - Choose from different food groups, think variety and rainbow colors. This will supply our bodies with energy to think, move and grow. 30-60 minutes of exercise daily helps our bodies to be strong, flexible and resilient. Boost your immune system by - Getting quality sleep, at least 8-10 hours nightly, turn off the TV and video games at least one hour prior to bedtime. Relax by taking a bath or shower, brush your teeth, and pack up for the next morning. And don’t forget….Smile often :)
If your child becomes ill and cannot participate in all of the school’s daily activities, please keep them home. Call your healthcare provider or the school nurse for advice, if you are unsure. Debbie Hawkins, RN For more information on the flu and flu vaccine you can go to http://www.cdc.gov
