This is because we want you to encourage your children to challenge themselves. The book prize is designed for the children of the staff of YTL Group of companies who are full-time students. It is an initiative to encourage, develop and strengthen the talents and skills of the next generation between the ages of 15-21. This prize will give them the opportunity to discover their hidden talents and unlock their creativity. It will also encourage and reward them for their academic achievements. School children will have the opportunity to go beyond their everyday school work which will help develop originality and critical thinking. For college students, this book prize will help hone their communication skills which will be valuable when they enter university and when they start working. We urge you to encourage your children to participate in this year’s book prize!

Other Benefits: Development opportunities – As part of YTL’s efforts to develop talents, book prize winners may be given an opportunity to develop their interests and talents. These include opportunities to attend seminars, forums, educational trips and to participate in activities of their interest (e.g. attend cultural events, perform community service). Such opportunities are to be proposed by the book prize winners to YTL Foundation stating the rationale for seeking such opportunities together with a cost breakdown. YTL Foundation will evaluate the proposals and will notify applicants if their proposals have been approved. Scholarship – Book prize winners will be eligible for consideration for scholarships to pursue an undergraduate or post-graduate degree, provided they gain admission to one of the world’s top universities or institutions of higher education such as the Ivy League in the US, Oxford and Cambridge in the UK or their equivalents.
About Puan Sri Kai Yong Yeoh Puan Sri Kai Yong Yeoh was an outstanding student both academically and also in music and drama during her formative years. As an adult, she has made outstanding contributions in her teaching career: educating youths in Mathematics and helping them realise their full academic potential in this subject regardless of their learning abilities. Despite her full-time teaching engagements, she personally saw to her children’s needs including tutoring them and nurturing them to be well-rounded individuals steeped in strong family values. Even though she retired from the teaching profession, she continues her passion by tutoring her grandchildren in Mathematics even till today. Since her retirement, she has been a member of the Board of Governors of the Jalan Davidson Primary School, where she taught for many years and founded the school band. She also holds the position of General Advisor to the Parents Teachers Association, the Alumni Association and the Board of Governors of the school and worked tirelessly over the past 30 years to improve the facilities and bring up the teaching standards of the school. Besides education, she generously supports many other charitable projects as well.
YTL Foundation was established in 1997 with the aim to provide educational aid to deserving individuals. Since then the foundation has awarded scholarships and book prizes that have benefited many students and their families. Today, YTL Foundation has evolved and widened its mission to create and enhance learning and teaching opportunities for future generations. The foundation carries-out and supports initiatives that help raise the standards of education in the country.
