It’s a process of learning within your professional group and is an ongoing process. Chrome books are available in grades 4-5. iPads are available to grades 13. IXL (an online learning tool similar to Khan Academy) was rolled out to 4th grade this year. They’re also using Google drive to return assignments. 5th graders are working on their biographies for the upcoming Wax Museum and will soon go to BizTown to run a fictitious town for the day. One of the goals in teaching is to tie into STEM and healthy initiatives.

Next Meeting(s)

Highlights: Our science specialist is gearing the kids toward the February science fair. In Technology, they are working on 2014-2015 Star of the North picture book nominees for 1st and 2nd. The other grades are learning more about the “hour of code event” encouraged by Khan Academy. This “event” encourages kids of all ages to learn about coding and webpage design. In art, Mrs. Vanderbilt just added new art to Artsonia. Parents are highly encouraged to logon and share their children’s artist talents with friends and family. Finally, before and after school opportunities abound from mentoring to chess and glee club. 1/12/2015
