In continuation of Board's letter No" E(LL))l2016lTTCl7 dated 13.10.2016,the,FIPCwhich was constitutedto review the duty hours of running and other safety related categoriesof staff, had also made its recommendationson undermentionedaspectsrelatedto working hours of thesecategories.The recomrnendations havebeenduly consideredby the Board and in modifica.tionof previous instructionson'the subject,the followingdecisionshavebeentaken:(i)

'sign on' to 'sign off) for the Total duty at a stretch(from .RunningStaffshouldnot exceed11 hours.

(ii)

Running duty at a stretchshouldnot ordinarily exceedt hours,' Such duty may extend further provided the railra'ay administrationgivesat least2 hoursnoticebeforethe expiry of t hours to the crev/ that they would be required to perform running duty beyondt hours,with the stipulationthat the total duty from 'sign on' to sign off shallnot exceed11 hours.

(iii)

In case the train does not reach its destination,nonnal crew changing point or the point where the reliever has been arranged,within the overall limit of 11 hours,and sucha point is approximately'onehour journey away, the Running Staff shall be requiredto work to that point provided the maximum hours in that trip doesnot exceed12 hours. n
