2016 FALL RETREAT GUIDE

2016 FALL RETREAT GUIDE 4 BIG QUESTIONS What are the retreats all about? Alongside community groups and Sunday worship, retreats are the most important organized opportunities for building community, helping one another become spiritually re-energized, and connecting with the life of Denver Pres. These retreats are especially helpful for those new do Denver Pres.

How much does it cost? The lodging is FREE. We want to make it easy for everyone to participate, so Denver Pres covers the cost of lodging. Childcare for the entire weekend is $35 per child, or $105 max per family.

Where is the retreat? The retreat takes place at the YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center, just under a two-hour drive from Denver. You will stay in a lodge near the meeting center, in a very comfortable, hotel-style room (see cabins on the map on opposite page). Room assignments will be given at check-in.

What should I bring? Dinner for Friday night (or eat before you arrive) Snacks to share for Friday and Saturday nights Drinks to share for Friday and Saturday nights. Please store in Barclay.

Toiletries (sheets, blankets and towels are provided think “hotel room”) Weather appropriate clothing (especially for kids, as they will have several outdoor activities)

Notebook and Bible Payment for Childcare Kids Items (water bottles, toys/games to share, etc) Your meal contribution (see below for details)

3 KEY DATES October 16 - RSVP Deadline Please RSVP at denverpres.org/Retreat. Email [email protected] if you have questions about the registration process. Additional information regarding children’s specific activity schedules and any other announcements are posted on the event page.

October 28 - Meal Team Assignments Every adult who participates in the retreat will be assigned to one meal team to help purchase, prepare, and serve one meal during the weekend. Family members 13 years and older will be assigned to the same team (children under 13 will not be assigned to a team). You will receive an email from your meal team leader by Friday, October 28. PLEASE NOTE: Those who cancel their reservations for any reason after October 28 will still be required to contribute their portion of the meal and coordinate with another team member to deliver their portion. Those who cancel October 28 or sooner will not need to contribute food.

November 11 - Check-In Use the map on the opposite page to find Barclay Cabin once in the YMCA of the Rockies. INFORMATION FOR PARENTS We are committed to creating a safe, enjoyable environment for our children at church retreats. We recognize that parents are responsible for their children, and we desire to partner with parents to protect our kids and to establish safe practices during our times together. Please make sure you and your child(ren) know and adhere to the following guidelines.

SAFETY GUIDELINES 1. No Room Keys Given to children Do not let your children - 8th grade and younger - have access to your bedroom’s key at any time. 2. Parents Check In/Out Children Parents must be present when checking children (birth-5th grade) in and out of childcare, every time. 3. Private Spaces are Off-Limits Children must be in public spaces at all times, unless accompanied by a parent. Lofts, stairwells, and other non-public spaces are off limits for children of all ages. Please be mindful of where your children are. 4. Napping/Sleeping Children Childcare workers will NOT “monitor sit,” so at least one parent/guardian needs to remain in assigned cabin with sleeping child(ren). The afternoon session will be video broadcasted in Barclay Cabin so parents with napping children may still participate in the session with other parents with napping children. 5. Morning Curfew Please do not allow children out of your room before 7:30 am, unless you are with them. 6. Communal Responsibility If you see an unsupervised child in potential danger or breaking the safety rules, please use your best judgement to help correct the situation. Parenting is a team sport!
